Pleased that you are now getting the hourly data. Keep in mind if you have also corrected Channel 1, you may be getting data coming in on that channel as well which you haven't had before. Channel 1 is EARS data.

I have pasted a URL below which will let you see what is available on the various channels --- a lot of data is now accessible !!

Geoffrey just a quick reply for the moment, but I expect the problem is that
the article was written 4 years ago and the channels and David's program
have changed dramatically.
Perhaps initially it may be best to have a good read of the program at
David's site :-

Also remember the global AVHRR data comes in on channel EPS-10. If you
haven't already done so you will need to apply for this data.

Hello Geoffrey,

The problem is that you have the wrong channel name within the brackets.
You have :-

[EUMETSAT Data Channel EPS-10]

It should only be :-

[EPS-10]

Not every channel starts with EUMETSAT Data Channel.
Best to check here for details :-

Douglas was correct in getting you to change your first line to [EPS-10] but your second ( target_directory ) line should requires changing as well.

You have target_directory=C:&#92;received&#92;Data Channel EPS-10. It should be target_directory=C:&#92;received&#92;EPS-10 for your set-up.

Try that and let me know if it helps.

Geoffrey, to help further we may need a basic idea of the system you are using. Keep in mind that many people require the use of a RAMDisk to receive Metop as each file totals about 28 Mb. However even without a RAMDisk I would expect some data to show in your MSG-1 folder under
Images / EPS Global.

It is also very important that your received file path in Metop Manager is correct and that would be worth checking keeping in mind that your settings were altered. It is advisable to use the browser button beside that setting to get the path correct. Also make sure that your received folder does not have a lot of unprocessed Metop files, which could happen if Metop Manager was not set up correctly.

There are a number of things we need to eliminate as possible problems, but I am sure we will resolve the issue and the global high rate data is well worth the effort.

I had thought that I could trial Metop on the same computer that I been running MSG DM etc before I had to upgrade/replace it & register the programme. The existing computer is not really man enough for the job although it is used for nothing else ( I have laptop for personal computing ). I had hoped to at least run a trial.

Dell Dimension 2400 Pentium 4 . 2 Gb Ram. 80 Gb hard drive whiich is less than half used.

Am I wasting our time ?

Your computer is probably somewhere between 2.00 and 3.00 GHz so it should
be OK although your HD will limit the amount of data that you can store.

However it is almost certain that you may need a RAMDisk to avoid losses
when receiving Metop . However without a RAMDisk you should get some data
although likely with missing chunks ( Metop equivalent of segments ). It
would be better first of all to make sure that some of the basic settings in
Metop Manager are correct especially given that your EPS-10 settings in
recv-channels.ini were changed.

So as mentioned in my previous mail check the received file path in Metop
Manager and also check that the data is not actually coming in, but is not
being processed ( check your received folder in Tellique ).

If all that appears ok then we need to set up a RAMdisk.
