All,

Regarding my last posting about re-registering expiring licenses, EUMETSAT
have also added this:

If anyone needs a free upgrade to their Tellicast software, all they need
do is send us an email and we will send them a copy of the latest version
5.5.

Regards,
John Tellick.

Yes, I confirm a successful reception of MSG-2 files from 09UTC,
after I changed the setting in MSGDM.
Now I wait for the RSS at 11UTC... :-)
Also RSS from MSG-1 works fine now....
So everything seems to be OK.
I didn't check the met products yet.

All
This from Ops
News information:
The swap of image dissemination from MET-8 to MET-9 which was scheduled for 09:00 UTC today has been postponed by 24 hrs.
Similarly the start of the Rapid Scanning Service has also been postponed by 24 hrs.
This is due to delays in achieving thermal stabilisation on Meteosat-9.
Cheers

Hi,
Ian, thank you for your reminder. It is now 0920 UTC and MSG-1 is
still coming through with nothing on MSG-2. I tried to check on the
Eumetcast web site but could find no up-to-date news on it (I don't find
it an easy site to browse). Has the changeover been postponed?

Best regards - Alan

Hi Ian,

The main files don't seem yet to have the MSG2 stamp, but I do have a cluster of MPEF files marked as MSG2 with a time stamp of 0845.

Re: Satellite Change

I have no idea Alan what has happened. Clearly something has delayed the changeover so we will just have to monitor. I will be out for a few hours, so it will be afternoon before I get a chance to keep an eye on it.

I am sure Eumetsat will report soon about the delay, they are very good at keeping us all up to date.

Regards
Ian.

Just a reminder, particularly to those that do not receive direct reports,
that Met-9 will take over prime duties again at 09.00 UTC. This will
require the Data Manager setting being changed back to MSG-2.

The rapid scan service should resume at 11.00 UTC with its Met products up
and running by 15.00 UTC.

Regards
Ian.

With reference to my mail 20/4/09 I have to confirm that I have not received
any communication from LSA-SAF. Yesterday some LST and DSLF data was
received, but it was short lived and by early afternoon only the LAT and LON

I do not intend to bother Eumetsat at the moment as they have enough to deal
with, so will do without the data for the the time being. To be honest I
don't think anyone else is interested anyway.

Further to my mail of 18/4/09 the new Metop LST and DSLF is still
missing

I have sent a mail to LSA-SAF to query this and will contact Eumetsat if
necessary ( and depending on reply )

Just remembered - in the regular report:

"EUMETCast
Due to essential EUMETCast maintenance on 22/04/09 between 02:45 and
03:45 UTC, there is a high risk of interruption to all EUMETCast data for
less than 1 minute."

So that's it.

Cheers,
David
Thanks for that reminder David,

Interestingly I had an almost identical packet loss at the same time on the day before as well.

Cheers
James

Folks,

There was a burst of missed packets at 0300 UTC this morning. I've reported that to EUMETSAT.

http://www.satsignal.eu/mrtg/EumetcastEurope_MissedPackets.html

One or two steps in signal strength were seen:

http://www.satsignal.eu/mrtg/EumetcastEurope.html

although one of my TelliCast logs (only one keeps detailed reports) doesn't show any attempt at triggering the signal lost error-script. I have my timeout for that set to 45 seconds.

Just remembered - in the regular report:
