Date
Windows 7 from Windows 10

diogenes1@...

Hello all, Please forgive me if the answer to my query is so obvious to you. I am running AVHRR Manager on a pc with Windows 7 Pro and my E1H-EPS-10 BZ2 files are downloaded and stored on another pc running Windows 10. I have mapped to the appropriate directory and can see its contents from the W7 pc. However the AVHRR Manager software does not appear to find these data since it sits there defiantly dormant! Any advice would be most appreciated.
Regards, Peter

Hi David

As of 12/12/2019 I am getting a build up of unprocessed data in EUMETSAT Data Channel 8 on the receiving PC of Aqua_MODIS.A2017212.L3m_DAY_SST_sst_4km.NRT.nc
looks like there has been a change from EUMETSAT and may be that MSG Data Manager needs updating.

Donald Martin
==================================

Donald,

I see one unprocessed file:

AQUA_MODIS.20200113.L3m.DAY.SST.sst.4km.NRT.nc

in data channel 8, and that's from 11:05 today. The MODIS L1 Viewer doesn't support SST data so I suggest scheduling a TrimTree nightly to remove the unprocessed data, or move it a directory for another program to process. Something like:

TrimTree 1 E:\EUMETCast\received

Cheers,
David

For those taking the above data, be aware that there appears to be a date issue with some of the data which is being saved through Data Manager as 2001. This seems to have commnced from 01/01/2020.

Even if the incorrectly dated data is not enabled in Data Manager, you will be left with numerous emtpty folders for 2001.

Data Manager is dealing with the data correctly, the problem is with DWDSAT.

Regards
Ian.

A new dish alignment solved definitively the issue.

Carrier to Noise for:
BS: 13.5 dB
HV1: 13.5 dB

120 cm dish + 2 NOVRA S300E

Thanks for you help!

David,

The imaging services of MSG-4 will be replaced with MSG-2 data in the
period
of January 13 to 20. Can RSS holiday be used to cover the change by having
the source path pointing to [drive]:\EUMETCast\received in combination
with
from-MSG4 & to-MSG2?
I ask this because the RSS-holiday program name suggests it may be looking
for RSS in the file name.

Cheers,
Ferdinand

I'd wondered about that too, Ferdinand, but with all the different
combinations I felt it was too dangerous. In any case, that program is
RSS
specific as you suspected. Manually change the zero degree instance of
the
MSG Data Manager at the appropriate times.

David

Thanks David, will do.

Just a reminder to all that the Rapid Scan service stops tomorrow for 4 weeks without any RSS cover from Met-9.

Also during the outage period both Met-11 and Met-9 will be off at different times for 1 week for instrument decontamination.

Full details available on the Weekly Operating Schedule.

Regards
Ian.

Hi John,

My signal is back this morning to the new nominal value that we have all had to get used to which in my case is about 0.5 SNR lower than it used to be. I am seeing about 12.8/12.9 SNR on TP1 and about 12.9/13.1 on TP2.

My TP2 signal is now marginally higher than my TP1 signal as I would expect as Eumetsat always stated before the TP1 drop that the TP2 signal would be about 0.4 SNR lower than TP1. Maybe they should put the basic service on the second transponder now !!!!!!

Regards
Ian.

I am seeing a substanial drop in signal over the last 30 minutes or so.
I had noticed a drop of about 0.5 SNR a few hours ago, but at the moment
it is over 3 SNR in relatively clear conditions here.

Shutting down now for the night, so hopefully resolved by morning.

Regards
Ian.

Considering the time of year, snow in Austria? Perhaps TP1 and TP2 are being fed from different uplink stations, or they have different correction margins.

Ian,

same here but a larger drop on T1...there must be a serious uplink/downlink problem maybe!?

I should have mentioned in my previous mail that TP2 is also down, but its reduction is much less at about 0.7 SNR.
