The Kepler update downloads the files without errors. files arę in the Keps directory as they have always been. I haven't changed anything and the AVHHR can't see them. I suspect Windows 10 updates Wysłane z iPhone'a

OK, so chase the WXtrack error first, and perhaps the AVHRR Manager will then be OK. Check where WXtrack is set to look for Kepler data, check the contents of that directory, and check the individual files. What happens if you run the Kepler Updater manually - what error shows?

Other obvious checks might include the Kepler Updater requiring Internet access (firewall), and ask when did it last work, when did it stop working, what changed in between? Perhaps an over zealous anti-virus program?

Robert,

I suggest checking the Kepler data with WXtrack. I use the multi-date Keplers (one file per satellite) rather than the multi-satellite ones.

Has anyone else seen a similar problem?

Can you post a screen-shot of the error message?

Thanks for reporting John ( 2 mails ).
Yes I too saw a signal recovery today for a short time, but as I prepare this mail the signal is way down again in cool but sunny conditions.

As you say there is a problem at the moment.

Ian,

I've been in contact recently with Arne regarding E 10-A 'SNR' TP1 in my case.

We had some pretty hot weather week or so ago 30 C and my SNR was all over the place.
And the last several days complete cloud cover and lots of rain.

Arne didn't think baking LNB and dish made much difference to SNR, I'm not so sure.
I thought I'd proved it one very hot day but in the evening when my dish had been in the shade for many hours my SNR was still down on normal.

Ah, I've just had a look and with still cloudy skies my SNR [1m dish, Inverto Black Ultra quad LNB, SR1] is back to 'high' normal of 13.6/7 dB and - 25 dBm Power at 10:30 UTC.

During the 'hot Sun tests' my SNR would languish around 13.0 dB and the Power -26 dBm.
But at time the SNR would jump/step around all over the place.

During the last few rainy days my SNR has been on the lower side.

10:34 UTC and my SNR is now stepping from 13.5 to 13.8 dB and back down again and 'in between.'

The sun is very high now and I suspect the atmosphere is rather volatile so it's difficult to make a conclusion?

10:39 UTC SNR 13.4 - 13.6/7 dB

Regards,
John.

Since the Hotbird test my signal never quite returned to pre test levels
although the difference was relatively small ( about 0.2 SNR )

However in the last few days signal levels have been way down on normal
and while weather in Europe has not been good, there must be other
reasons as well. Let us hope for a speedy recovery --- margins are tight
enough.

Ian.

Folks,

I've seen signal levels (link margin levels) varying by a dB or so in recent days, in quite definite higher and lower periods. While I have noted this in my daily report to EUMETSAT, I suggest anyone seeing the problem report to Ops as well. The more reports the better.

Cheers,

Youssef,

after a review of the symptoms you describe I think your EKU software is not running:
Check command "pgrep SACSrv". If this stays empty (no process ID is returned) SACSrv is not
running. This EKU soft is linked to GTK 2.0 that might not be present. So try "apt-get install libgtk2.0"
and reboot ... A command "tc-cast-client -k" must now show the host_key_4   =  ****_****_****_****
This host_key_4 with the stars shows EKU software is running fine (also seen in the TC WEB interface).

Ernst

The firmware you certainly need in /lib/firmware/ is "dvb-usb-tbsqbox-id5927.fw".
Not sure you need anything else as the box has an stv0910 chip like the TBS6903.

Hi all,

Just to keep record of what I did to install TBS drivers under Linux, here is the code to get the drivers and install them on a Ubuntu machine (bash), this will install all the drivers of TBS hardware (USB and PCIe cards) after making sure removing all the old ones. The tarball comes with an install script :

As root :

# wget http://www.tbsdtv.com/download/document/linux/media_build-2021-05-08.tar.bz2

# sudo rm -rf /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/media/

#tar jxvf media_build-2021-05-08.tar.bz2

#cd media_build

#./install.sh

#reboot

I would suggest to check Ernst commands but just for clarification, remove the „#“ , like „ femon“, otherwise you will get no output. I think Ernst just added the „#“ to make sure you do this as root user.

Dear Ernst,
I have just installed everything under the Ubuntu-20.04 Linux system yesterday and it is working, slowly but working.
For the moment I am receiving data at a speed of 0.5 Mb/s, very few files, mainly SAF products and a few EPS, but I can't receive Data_channels 1 to 6. Furthermore, the TBS does not lock on the EUMETCAST frequency (green light), maybe that's the reason why I don't get many files.
Under Windows, I was getting everything (10-15 files simultaneously at a speed of 20-25Mb/s and lock on the frequency is very easy with TBSIP or the CrazyCat soft.
So, for the moment, my Windows experience is much better than with Linux, but it's still early to say, there are still so many things I don't know how to fix.
Any suggestions  welcome and thank you for your support

Youssef,

have you copied the relevant TBS firmware to /lib/firmware? No idea what special file the TBS-5927 USB box needs.
At the console as root (or with sudo) check "# dmesg | grep frontend" This should finally show the box in warm state.

No lock no files no fun. At the console (or if this is a graphic setup in a terminal) check that szap-s2 is running:

As root (or with sudo) enter "# ps fax | grep szap-s2"

Then check with "# femon" whether it says to be locked
Then "# dvbtraffic" must show you the PIDs comming in
Then check this "# /etc/init.d/dvb-eumetcast status"
Then check that the EKU software is working (host_key4: ****_****_****_****) in the WEB interface.

You can redirect the output of the commands to a file and post it here or send it as a PM for me only.
There might be an Ubuntu firewall problem as well (in Devuan/Debian the firewall is unconfigured).

Regards,
Ernst
