Douglas,

Thanks for the link to MTG information.

Mmmm, 4 transponders via 2 satellites by 2026.
Of course dual LNB's on one dish is a possibility.

Hi David and all

I have installed David`s GOES ABI Manager and setup as per the instruction text with the program, when I run the program it finds :

And no files are process by the program, the only thing I have not set is "Select GeoSatSignal job number". Any ideas as to what is wrong or have I miss some thing simple. Any help would be appreciated thanks

===================================

Doesn't ring an immediate bell, Donald. My settings (for you to try) are:

- GOES-16
- JPEG
- Short image names
- all bands
- all job numbers 0

Does the program have delete access to the Source path, and write access to the Saved NetCDF files and Saved image files path?

Re: Signal

geojohnt@...

John,

My sheltered patio mounted dish (and our 10 degree facing dishes) get a lot of sunshine on them for a large part of the day and my grey pained dish is far too hot to touch at midday - the black Iverto LNB very hot also.

However we had a couple of cloudy days last week and the dish and LNB were 'cool' with an ambient temperature of 30 degrees and the same 'SNR problem' occurred.
So I don't think it's a 'dish/LNB temperature' problem.

For me at least - and some others, there are two issues, lower overall average level of SNR for 2 + months now, and 'considerable' stepping/jumps up and down of the (lower) SNR during the day.

My view is that the satellite signal path - up and down -  is through a volatile atmosphere at this time of the year.

We shall see, later?

Regards,
John.

I have been not using msg data manager for about 8 weeks but its been running and i have just returned to the software and found no data received since mid May. I wonder if my satellite dish has moved and as just checking what degrees is MSG-4 when aligning. Can someone remind me please. I can only find msg-3 position which was 9.2E. I hope thats the problem or my ayrecka sr1 may have a fault. I have not touched the settings in msg data manager or the SR1 controller settings.

Please don't multi-post.

Nothing has changed, Philip. The satellite you are receiving is Intelsat 10E, at 10 East, not direct from MSG themselves.

What does the Ayecka show (login or Java app)? Signal received? Is there a green or red LED above Lock 1?

What does the TelliCast HTML Shell show?

What colour is the TelliCast icon?

Cheers,
David

Hello John,

You need to download the TLE's for Sentinel-3. In 'Set Preferences' - 'TLE Sources' a line as 'http://celestrak.com/NORAD/elements/resource.txt' will download
a list of resource satellites when pushing the button 'Update TLE's' on the 'Satellite Setup' screen. The list must also be visible in the 'TLE Files' list of the same screen.
I will add a warning when the list is not found. A crash is not very friendly ...

grts,

Hugo

EUMETCastView set-up problem

g3pha.morris@btinternet.com

Greetings Hugo, I have just downloaded and installed the latest version of the programme
but have encountered a problem when trying to " Download available segments from Schub / CODA"

A message stating     Assertion failed !    appears :-

File:../../EUMETCastView-master/QSgp4/qtle.cpp,Line134

Expression:!m_strName.is Empty0

I cannot access the programme again to check settings  and pressing  the Abort or Retry or Ignore buttons has no effect.
I suspect that I have missed a setting somewhere but not sure which. Have compared the settings on another pc and thought similar.
Any help you can give much appreciated.          Regards,    John

Hi Ferdinand,

my NDVI files are processed. But I don't use the Tellicast default directory scheme.
All files for processing with MSG Data Manager go to a single folder. (G:\Raw)
Mapping Channel 8 data to another Folder may help:
[channel]
name=EUMETSAT Data Channel 8
target_directory=\EUMETCast\received\EUMETSAT_Data_Channel_4

David,

Thanks for addressing this so quickly. When I placed the data back in the
--\EUMETCast\received\EUMETSAT_Data_Channel_8 directory, the new Data
Manager immediately processed the files and put the results in the MPEF
tree. Works perfectly well. Should therefore also work on fresh data coming
in over EUMETCast.

Thanks again.

David,

Yes, the 'Manage Ch.8 data' is checked. That's why I get the data correctly
delivered there.
The Chlorophyll data is still being sent (and being properly handled) but
the other data does not end up in the \yyyy\mm\dd tree but remains in the
\Images\Data Channel 8\ folder.
It concerns Decadal Vegetation Index data (NDVD/NDVI) and it would be very
welcome if it could be processed.
File names look like this:
L-000-MSG4__-MPEF________-NDVD_____-000001___-201806301200-__
L-000-MSG4__-MPEF________-NDVI_____-000001___-201806281200-__
As well as prologue files.
These are sent once every 10 days (one per type).
I will send you sample files off-line.

Ferdinand,

As far as I can see from a quick glance, anything received in Data Channel
8
might be sent to the \Images\Data Channel 8\yyyy\mm\dd\ directory,
however,
this isn't one I routinely process. In Setup, Channel Selection, Other -
2 you
would need to have Manage Ch.8 data checked.

These seem to be Africa-specific and I don't know what data they contain
off-
hand. My test data is from 2009/2010 and appears to be Aqua/MODIS
Chlorophyll data.

Re: Signal

geojohnt@...

Ian,

As you know, I am also suffering a 0.5 dB drop on my overall daily SNR variation - peak to peak.
I thought things had improved slightly a couple of days last week with my higher level edging up but it was short lived.

The continuing relentless daytime heat down here (and it's set to get even hotter this week) make it difficult to compare with earlier cooler times this year - when of course the sun was lower.
A weather forecaster on BBC TV said that UV levels are unusually high this year so that has an effect on the 'atmosphere.'
But I too agree, 'something happened a couple of months ago.'

We can't both be wrong?

Regards,
John.
