PC configuration needed for MSG ???
f5hcc <f5hcc@...>
Hello.
I wonder which PC configuration is needed for MSG reception whithouit data lost. Eumetsat tells "Pentium 4 at 2 GHz"; for the moment, I'm using a Pentium III at 1 GHz; David Taylor says on his web site that he's running with "an old Pentium III at 550 MHz". Can someone confirm that a PIII-550 is enough (I use one for WXFAX reception on Meteosat) ? With which quantity of memory ? Under which operating system ? I'm using a PCI Sky board. Regards. Mini-scans are currently being used on Meteosat-6 to provide the Rapid Scanning Service, which should be described on the Eumetsat Web site. Cheers, David

MSG licence for French users
f5hcc <f5hcc@...>
Hello.
I had today a phone conversation with someone at Meteo France who is in charge of the licencing in France. I was asking for the delivery of the EKU by Eumetsat (Eumetsat's help desk told me that they were waiting for Meteo France to send back the licences of french users). A nice woman told me that the licences will be issued free of charge for French users assuming that they use MSG data for self-education or amateur use and that they don't broadcast the received data on Internet in real time. That's good news for French users ! We'll have only to pay for the EKU (and of course for Tellique client and receiving equipment). All French users registered by Eumetsat will receive a "convention" they'll have to fill in and send back to Meteo France who will forward the agreement to Eumetsat. This "convention" will be sent by e-mail or by snail-mail, depending on the informations given by the users on their registration form. Fabrice, F5HCC.

David,
same set of data on NASA OIG. By checking the last 5 TLEs, it doesn't look like there is a definite pattern, as TLEs are separated by anywhere from 2 to 6 days, and in one case there were two TLEs few minutes apart. Too bad! Kepler data for MSG-1
Does anyone have current Kepler data for MSG-1?
It is supposed to be in an orbital move from 10W to 3.5W, but the most recent data I have from Celestrak is from around January 10th, before the move began. It would be fun to watch this drift and see how the image quality of data from the eastern limb improves with orbital position! Dutch licenses.
johnrigsec@...
All,
I have been informed by Arne that the Dutch licenses are actually written in English despite what was originally posted. Ferdinand has conformed there is no handling charge in Holland for issuing of licenses. One thought - if you already had an EKU from EUMETSAT during the trial period and for those who will be applying now, EUMETSAT will not, I understand, 'switch on' your EKU till they have received confirmation from the national Met. Offices that they have in turn received your signed license agreement back. But then, I thought, you would not be offered the ability to purchase the EKU by EUMETSAT till they had been informed of your licensed status. Anyway ..... Regards, John Tellick. RIG.

fvalk <fvalk@...>
Just to clarify, it is correct that the dues for the SKU and the software need

to be paid. However that has nothing to do with the KNMI. Its position has been very constructive and cooperative in this affair and there is no charge by KNMI for the service of handling the licenses. Ferdinand Valk
