Any problems, and there's someone here to help! By the way, you can also get the high-resolution AVHRR data (nine times better than the APT data) from polar orbiting satellites, free, from the same service and hardware. You just need to ask EUMETSAT to enable you for that service. This service is in trial mode right now. There is a Yahoo group dedicated to the reception of polar data over a EUMETCast system here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AVHRR/ Cheers, David -- SatSignal software - quality software written to your requirements Web: http://www.satsignal.net Email: davidtaylor@writeme.com ___________________________________________________________ Inbox full of spam? Many thanks David and Douglas. I am not sure why that segment was missed, but at about that time I was making a couple of changes in the XP/ Settings /Control Panel, (but not remotely connected with the MSGManager or AVHRR Manager) and am assuming that this somehow upset the Tellicast program. I do not seem to have missed anything else at all, just that one file missing according to the MSGManager log.

I seem to have missed a segment from the noaa18 orbit 05233, nominal minute 14:01. Is this just me, or was it not transmitted?
Incidentally, I have noticed that the signal strength from the hotbird sat is down about 13 % here this afternoon. Regards Bernard Burton Wokingham, Berkshire, UK. Satellite images at: www.btinternet.com/~wokingham.weather/wwp.html

this happened to me in the last 72 hrs on my W2000Pro RX system. The wind had disturbed my dish and I updated the Technisat software to the version with audible "beep" for signal strength. (version 4.2.11 - probably everyone else has surpassed even this by now ). The intial start of the program showed exactly what you describe. A re-boot brought the icon back and it has remained in view when the programme is running ever since, through subsequent opening and closing of the program and frequency changes. Regards, Terence. XP has a known bug which prevents icons showing up in the notification area. There seem to be several causes or triggers, but one solution which works sometimes for me is to put the PC into the user mode where a username and password is demanded at boot time, whether or not a password is used. This can be done in Control Panel/User Accounts/Change the way users log on and off. When this is done, the icons appear correctly most of the time. Hope it works for you! Folks, I've just set up another PC for EUMETCast, and whilst it is working correctly and receiving data, the green Server4PC satellite icon is not showing in the system tray. This is an XP system and therefore different to my other production systems. No, the icon isn't hidden (by XP automatically hiding it!). I'll probably just reboot the system, but has anyone else seen this behaviour? Is there a setting which controls this? Cheers, David --------------------------------------------------- Hi David, yes I've had that happen as well - doesn't seem to affect the reception, just a bit odd!
