I also recorded the 0245 ch 12 seg 16 missing today, but not the Met-5 one. I can't comment on the Missed Data Packets stats as I don't normally look at them. However, the Skystar SkyDSL Signal Status display shows no uncorrected blocks. But: starting at 04:36 today and continuing until 15:05 the log file shows dozens of entries saying: Cannot join eumetsat Channel 1, missing key xxxxx. and 4 channel lost messages for channels 3 and Announcement. I have not installed the latest Tellicast and EKU software ugrades so am running the older (well-tested!) ones. I have a 64 MB Ramdisk used only for the 'receiving' files, that is temp and 0.fsy, the latter has grown to 32.9 MB. I am puzzled by the missing key messages, particularly as I don't seem to be losing anything! (unless it is stuff I don't normally take) Best regards - Alan (Sewards) David J Taylor wrote:

I am not taking EPS or MSG-2 at the moment so there is no pressure on the receive computer. It's only a few but still annoying. Vaguely remember there was an issue before when not everyone was affected equally. It only started after yesterday's change of software by Eumetsat so I am pretty certain it is not me. At the moment I do not need a RAMdisk either but believe you me when EPS starts you have no chance without one !! Regards Douglas.

Both PCs use a 60MB RAMdisk just for the FSY file, and the TelliCast V2.4.4 B client software is on both systems. Looking at the TelliCast Statistics display, I have seen a significant reduction in the "Missed Data Packets before FEC" value since yesterday, when the EUMETCast server software was due to be changed. However, I have seen a number of entries in the log file like: ERR:2006-05-31 03:48:55.059:Failed to open data channel `EUMETSAT Data Channel 1', address 224.223.222.1:4811 (wrong interface address 192.168.238.238?) which are new. Much depends on what data you have asked for and the speed of your country's Meteorological office. Once Eumetsat have received and processed your registration application it is past on to the Met. Office, who in turn will send you a licence for signing. When you have signed that licence and sent it back to your Meteorological office, Eumetsat will be notified by them and then contact you re the software etc. If you are only asking for 6 hourly data then a licence is not required. Hope that helps. Regards Douglas.

I did it according to the 'book'. I had stopped all processes and removed the EKU as per the readme file. As I reported earlier today (note that my e-mails were delivered by Yahoo in reverse order!) all was well following a second re-installation of the EKU upgrade. Tomorrow I shall do the next upgrade - Tellicast s/w. Lawrence a_van_belle wrote:

Re: Eumetcast software upgrade
a_van_belle
Sorry to hear about unsuccessful upgrades.
Reading the readme's and troubleshooting faq's I think there might be issues with the latest updates: 1 RTE 3.65 tells me that for Windows 2000 minimum requirement is SP4. 2 Technisat's user guide part 4 Trouble shooting mentions: "Currently it is known, that our PCI cards are not compatible to most mainboards which are based on the nVidia nForce4 chipset" Mainboards with VIA chipset might need the latest software patch from the VIA web site to prevent data loss or bad performance. So my "regular" receive PC still runs fine with TC240, RTE3.51 and Technisat driver 4.30 on W2k SP3. All testing is done on a second test setup as I don't want to miss the images ! Could it be that during the first RTE update you did not:
1 Stop Tellicast, 2 Remove the EKU, before running the update ? Running processes could prevent the new driver from being installed completely. I have done the RTE update on two systems successfully. Glad it all worked out Lawrence ! Greetings, Arne van Belle --- In MSG-1@yahoogroups.com, Lawrence <lawrence@...> wrote: (therefore) ' thefailed to decode...'. Following my own post, I merely re-installed the EKU s/w and it now works fine. How strange.

Yesterday evening I decided to do the software changes - EKU and Tellicast updates. I knew there would be a problem of some form so I was not too concerned when, after the EKU upgrade, the data is no longer saved. The log file shows 'missing key xxxx' and (therefore) ' failed to decode...'. I realised this morning that had I been using my brain properly, I could easily have set up a different computer to receive normally so that I had a fall-back system.

Ian Deans <isdeans1.-_@...>
I may be way off the mark here, and apologies if I am, but I think Alan was using fairly old drivers for his DVB card if I remember correctly. Older DVB drivers ( and I am really stretching the memory here ) did not have a Eumetcast setting on the list when you right clicked the green satellite icon. In these days you had to select T-Systems and I am wondering if this might be causing the confusion.

A pop-up menu appears listing the satellites, and if you select T-Systems rather than EUMETCast you will get the wrong settings. It is indeed confusing that, as you state, Status/Network shows "T-Systems", but it due to the fact that EUMETCast data is carried over the T-Systems network!
