Database

mb.c <mb.c@...>

I have sent a copy of my mdb to you.
Not sure if this solves your problem as I see the date changes to last
Startup.
Make sure setup4PC is not running in the background, otherwise the
File is locked.
Make a copy of the original file first.

..mdb is normally linked to MS access databases

If file replacement fails you may have to remove Technisat DVB
Software and re-install it. There is no need to remove Tellicast or RTE !

Hello Arne,

Thanks for that it didn't work and I reinstalled the software, and it seems
to be fine .

Hi Arne,

Not to worry - I had the same loss of signal.
I was beginning to have the same thoughts - prolonged heat on the LNB?

John.

Re: database

Technisat uses a database to store transponder info and data service
settings. This should be a file called EPG.MDB
Maybe this file is overwritten or damaged.

Try to restore it from the Eumetcast Client CDROM V4 or later

PCI problem with ASUS A8N-SLI mainboards

a_van_belle

A serious design fault has been discovered in the very popular ASUS
A8N-SLI mainboards.

In many cases the PCI bus on these boards cannot provide enough power
for "power demanding" PCI cards like the Skystar2.
In these cases the mainboard was damaged irreversible and some
reported having replaced their mainboard 2 times under warranty before
ASUS support advised not to use ANY DVB-S card on these mainboards.

Although ASUS is well known for good quality and support, I cannot
find any warning on their site nor in their manual !
The A8N-SLI manual does tell you that any PCI compliant card can be
installed. So if their support advises not to use any DVB-S card then
this product is not according to their own specs and should be taken
back !
It is said that the Technisat Skystar2 does comply to the PCI
specification so it is very likely that other "power demanding" PCI
cards can also fry this mainboard.

Technisat does mention in the DVB PCTVstars FAQ on the driver CDROM
that their PCI cards are not compatible to most mainboards based on
the nVidia nForce4 chipset but brands and types are not mentioned.

Until this matter has been narrowed down and solved properly I
recommend not to buy a PC based on the ASUS A8N-SLI board !

If you have a mainboard from another manufacturer based on the nForce4
chipset and use it successfully with a Skystar2 PCI card, please report.

I recently installed an MSI nForce3 system (K8N Neo2) with Skystar
2.6D and this systems runs fine !

Winrar can unpack these files.

http://www.7-zip.org/ should also do it but I have not tested this.

Giuseppe,

I suffer this problem as well. It was 30 deg in SE England and my EKU first flashes and then the led goes out after about 45-60 mins. This is in the rear of the machine by the PSU. Placing a fan next to it seems to cure the problem. The rest of the machine is fine, even the PCI RX card, runs hot but is OK.

Cheers, Guy

Orlando & Arne,
I had a similar problem problem during MSG2 beginnings, and following
upgrade download...
I am running 24/7, and it stopped in the afternoon...
First days, with home tmps about 30degrees... EKU was in backside USB...
Then on extension cable, now on frontside USB (near free air...) and it's
working.
I agree with Arne that cooling should be solution...
EKU seems beeing delicate under summer temps... my opinion....
Ciao
Giuseppe

Hello Orlando,

Sorry for the delay, I did reply this morning but somehow the mail
never arrived at Yahoo groups !

If your reception halts, can you run eToken properties and read out
the EKU ?

If not you might have a EKU problem. Try cooling down the EKU.

Do you use a USB box or PCI card version ?
In case of a USB box, make sure you use the latest chipset/usb driver
for your mainboard/PC.

Good luck,
Arne van Belle
