Douglas,

Yes, only AVHRR is handled.
I don't receive METOP test myself, but got a few segment-parts of Arne,
and as
far as I can see these are correctly handled. And, as said, the AVHRR file
on
the test DVD is also processed fine.

Don't know what you mean with 'no success':
. Did you get a channel/segment tree structure?
. If so, did you get just a black screen, if you try Preview?

Even with 1 segment (3 minutes?) you should be able to get a picture. But
if
these pics are like the one on the DVD: Large night-parts are also
included, so
with one file, by accident covering a night-part, of course you don't see
much
on a visual channel...

Rob.

Rob, as usual there was no test data yesterday so I will wait until it
restarts before commenting further.
I had a very limited set of files (as I have been deleting frequently), less
than 20, and they seem to be causing the program to crash.
I'll do a more thorough test and report back when test data restarts.
I assume from what I have read that it is NOAA GAC data that is being used
for the test.
Eumetsat's own program EPS View does not recognise the data at all (except
the ASCAT).
Of course the data is really for the purpose of testing the systems, size of
RAMdisk required, effect on lost segments etc., rather than for the data
content itself (particularly as the satellite has not been launched yet !!).
Thanks for your help.
Will be in touch if and when data restarts.

Regards
Douglas.

Roland,

The satellite which was replaced was GOES-10, and the change is permanent, so I have updated the subject line of the message.

The current MSG Data Manager (V2.5) handles the new data correctly (although I have yet to check the thermal calibration or rename the files). As an existing user, you can upgrade either just your MSG Data Manager, or the full MSG Toolset Plus to get the benefits of both GeoSatSignal 6 and the MSG Animator 2.5. Upgrade details are here:

https://gbp.swreg.org/soft_shop/50031/shopscr35.shtml

https://gbp.swreg.org/soft_shop/50031/shopscr41.shtml

Please, in future, ask questions about my software on the SatSignal Yahoo group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SatSignal/

I hope that helps.

Cheers,

Spectacular gust front

seggins2000 <seggins@...>

Folks,

One of the best examples of a gust front I have seen in a while is
visible at 14.8N 11.6W. It is even more spectacular on the avhrr pass
on orbit 05600 (14:30) of NOAA18.

Enjoy

Looking in the TelliCast Log

a_van_belle

You may find lots of messages in the Tellicast log like:

"File transmission xxxxxxxx interrupted: x files missing/incomplete"

This is normal behaviour of Tellicast and was there before the client
/ server upgrade too.
It means that a specific file transmission was interrupted by a higher
priority job. These files will be sent later and these events/messages
won't cause any missing segments.

Thanks to EUMETSAT for explaining.

Greetings,
Arne van Belle

Hi,
I find this matter alarming. It firstly was Arabnet, now Cyfra. I
don't agree with Eumetcast trubleshooting guide, If some of us had the
same problem at the same time, a hazarous issue due to manufacturing
of the card is not a reason for the problem I guess, unless this false-
locking is caused by a the trasmission micro-break.

I'm using skystar2 with linux O.S. and then, I can not see the
interference to cyfra (ther is no graphic applications in linux for
the card driver)

There was some problems with Yahoo mail yesterday.
I had a very limited set of files (as I have been deleting frequently), less

Next time that happens, try right-clicking the red satellite icon, and selecting EUMETCast. That alone may be enough to restore operation.

Of the three systems here, two carried on OK, and one needed the right-click operation.

If the problem is permanent, try the solution in the EUMETCast trouble-shooting guide:

If anyone uses xrit2pic to process METOP data I am interested in results,

Rob Alblas.
Hello Rob,

I am receiveing 'live' test data (obviously made up !) but so far no success
although I only had a limited set when I tried the program as I have been
deleting fairly regularly.
I assume it only handles channel EPS-10 ie the Metop AVHRR files. (there are
17 channels).
To be fair Eumetsat do say that the data is really only to test the system
rather than the data content. ie data rates, the size of RAMdisk and the
effect of the data on other services.
There may not be test data today.
I'll let you know how I get on.
I don't have the DVDs so I am not able to try them.
