Re: New version of BUFRdisplay for NPP data, including Linux
Thanks for the feedback, Simon - it's just what I was after, as I was afraid something like this would happen. I would like to try and work around this business of incompatible system libraries,

Glad to hear that it's working, Ian. I apologise for the delay, but it's been a busy summer!

Francis,
Many thanks for the update. The new NPP is displaying perfectly, but as it is coming in at times out of order, it is better to leave it for a few hours and then display it without gaps.

New version of BUFRdisplay for NPP data, including Linux
For any BUFR enthusiasts, I now have a new version of BUFRdisplay available on my www site at www.elnath.org.uk (version 0.4.0).
The main changes allow it to handle the new ATMS and CrIS NPP files

Vincenzo, reading your mail I am assuming you are using the Technisat PCI card. The most likely cause for a yellow "T" is a firewall issue. Disable the firewall ( Windows or third party ) and see if

Re: Cold anomaly in NE Portugal
Are you converting the data into an imprecise data type (such as 8bit int)?
Depending on the scaling you apply it could be that the values in that
region (~350K) are too high for the data type and so

Nick,
Unless you are using an inverted palette, black on a IR image
translates into hot, not cold. It looks to me as a small hot spot,
probably a fire as suggested by Terence, but it is odd that it

Re: Cold anomaly in NE Portugal
Nick,
it looks rather as though it's a quite serious fire near the border. It shows up very well on the fire-monitoring animation.

Cold anomaly in NE Portugal
Evening all,
Any one else see the _very_ cold (black) area in NE Portugal in the last few IR images? Very obvious in Channel 4 from about 18:30 to 19:15?
Also on several other wave-lengths but not

Tony,
You mentioned Hotbird a few times. Please note that you need Eurobird, at 9 degrees east, not Hotbird! (Changed some years ago.
