Re: TELLICAST 2.14.7 on Centos 7.9: 2 NIC conflicts

Thank You all invited in this problem.
I have been soluted it.
DHCP and Stati NIC could work together.
There needed to add to /etc/network additional gateway for the static IP. And the result was fine.

Thank You all.

Hi

I do not see why this should not work. On the same subnet you must not set fixed IPs in the range of IPs the DHCP server uses.
Then it normally works. Here you must have even different subnets so I suspect another culprit. Do you have some sort of network
manager or even AVAHI daemon running? Then you must exclude your TelliCast used Network card from being "taken care of".

Ernst.

Betreff: [MSG-1] TELLICAST 2.14.7 on Centos 7.9: 2 NIC conflicts

Hello!

I am using Tellicast 2.14.7 on Centos 7.9. My server have 2 NICs (ntwrok internal card): 1 to DVB-S2 Ayecka receiver, 1 to my external subnet.
When I'm starting up both NICs - only one of them works (external subnet).
1 NIC is with static network configuration (for DVB SAT data), 1 with dhcp (external).
If I turn down external subnet NIC, then Tellicast client start running and downloads all data I defined in Tellicast channels. If I turn on external NIC, then Tellicast clients stops working and trying to start client. But external works.

Pls give me some advice, that I am doing wrong. Default gateways are also predefined in /etc/network/ifcnfg_*** interfaces.

Hello!
I have some problem with Tellicast installed on Centos 7.9. I have 2 NIC:
1 NIC is connected to DVB-S2 Ayecka, another one to my internal network.
One is static (for Ayecka), antoher one is dhcp (for internal).
If both NIC addresses are up, then works only one - dhcp.
If i turn down my internal dhcp (ifdown ***), then Tellicast starts running and downloads SAT data from defined channells.
I have tried many different variants, but still don't understand, what I am doing wrong.
So it is working only one of them (NIC) - both not working together.

Pls give me some advices what I have to do with my network (or another) configurations on centos ?

Re: Old TechniSat card & DVBWorld interface

Peter,

Technisat produced a bunch of models. But most of us used the SkyStar 2 TV 2.6D PCI card shown here:

https://www.ebay.de/itm/154464274925?hash=item23f6c9c9ed:g:emoAAOSweQ9ge~0Z

This one is DVB-S only and therefore no good since 2014 when EUMETCast changed to DVB-S2 + VCM.

On the other hand if someone still owns a SkyStar 2 eXPress HD please don't throw it away!! This card still
has awsome performance for an EUMETCast Basic Service only receiver under GNU/Linux. So if you want to
give GNU/Linux as TC receiver a go or know someone interested in doing so, keep or pass this card along.
Several of these SkyStar 2 eXpress HD cards appear now on eBay Germany and sell for 10 - 20 Euros.

https://www.technisat.com/assets/medias/docus/15/DB_SkyStar%202%20eXpress%20HD_EK.pdf

I combined one of these cards with my PyTROLL/Satpy image processing starter kit. It produces
images of a couple of satellites that you can configure at will. It's working all unattended. See here:

http://5.153.116.236:85

If there is enoug interest and we run in another lockdown I might concider a GNU/Linux starter kit.

Cheers,
Ernst

Ernst, thank you for your reply. I came across these items, as you do, whilst looking for something else and I just wondered, should I get rid of them or have they got a use for any satellite related projects.

Daniele,

You can check here what others are seeing:

https://www.satsignal.eu/mrtg/performance_eumetcast-europe_losses.php

In my view, there is no Europe-wide packet loss. What changed on your PC at the same time as the packet loss started? Are the SNR and link-margin levels as expected? Did a wind gust blow the dish out of alignment?

Cheers,
David

Re: AppImage EUMETCastView in WSL2 for Windows

Hugo,

Graham might want to test that (I certainly will not, but I am curious anyway :-) :
Is it possible to run a TelliCast Linux receiver using the OpenSource TBS drivers
in a CLI WSL setup while doing the image processing under native Windows 10?

Ernst

AppImage EUMETCastView in WSL2 for Windows

Hugo

Hello,

After the experiments of Ernst I was intrigued by the Windows Subsystem for Linux.
For the AppImage to work in Windows 10 ( without an XServer !) you need the latest version of the Microsoft Windows Insider program ( from the Dev channel).
Also you need the latest GPU driver for your card (AMD, Nvidia or Intel).
I tried to install this Windows version on my MSI portable computer but to no avail ( probably because it's dual boot). Than I installed it on a Windows 10 only machine, and that worked.
The GPU is from AMD.
I was able to install WSL 2 with GUI support on that machine and I could run apps like GIMP .
My AppImage also worked but the maximum GLSL version that is supported is 1.4 and 3.00 ES, so  the 3D Globe was not visible, although I could see that I have 6 paintGL/s writes.
Clearly, there is still a lot of work to do for the WSL team,  but I think this evolution of Windows is very exciting.
More info is available on https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/tutorials/gui-apps .

grts,
Hugo

That is cheap, ill look into that more, but right now i think a USB one would work better, gonna check out the TBS5927 first!
Thanks a lot!

Re: Anyone selling DVB hardware?

Hello,

I just acquired a TBS5927 (USB) and it works well, with it I can receive Basic and HVS1. The link is  www.tbsdtv.com .  Installation is straightforward but, in my case I need to have a signal strength over 80% to receive the HVS1 with a 1.2 m dish, but this depends on your location.  It costs about 250$ including shipment, it arrived in 7 days. Payment is by PAYPAL and there was no trouble.

Good luck.

Hello!
Just getting into EuMetCast and looking for a DVB receiver, looking to receive basic and HVS-1. In southern Sweden!
Anyone selling or know where to get hardware cheaper than 400-500 euros?
Thanks a lot in advance!
