John,

Many thanks for your fast reply. This lack of TV4PC with the updated
software is a little strange. In the Technisat site where information is
available about the updated drivers/software, reference is made to the patch
for Media Player 9 and to Direct X 9 in connection with problems that may
arise with TV4PC.
This clearly suggests that it is part of the package.

Thanks again

Ian.

Well that's interesting. Perhaps now Meteosat 8 is fully operational, the manning is more continuous. Perhaps they might even welcome a project! I'll put in a note in a while if my tests prove conclusive. Thanks David

Hi John,

I am in the process of experimenting here using David Taylor's
excellent
suggestion, but have had a strange result. I switched to the trial
user
name and password and just after 1100 started receiving some
channel 1
noaa bz2 files. Then I switched to the encrypted stream and no more
files. Left it a while - about 10 minutes - no more files, so
switched
back to trial user - no more files until about 1150 then a stream
more.
But switching back to encrypted has given no bz2 files.

I think I have two conclusions at the moment. The ATOVS files are

Ian,

TV4PC is not part of the package. I agree with you, it is better
than DVBViewer. I used to use the TV4PC to watch BBC World - the
rest was in a language I could not understand or pornogrphic!

It might well be possible to try installing TV4PC from the original
CD and see if it would run. I disappeared when the old setup was
removed to install the new.

With the new

preferred
the TV4PC option for TV rather than the DVBViewer.

Get the latest driver from Technisat.
Install same
Right click the icon in the task bar and choose "Eumetsat"(not on
the
older driver). You may have "T-Systems" checked.
"Set up" should then give you a good value.

I don't think so, James. It _might_ be worth checking the
Statistics screen of the Setup4PC software, I _think_ the four
multicast addresses (Type = MC) correspond to the four PIDs (you may
need to wait a moment for channel 1 MC to be active and all 4 MC
addresses to show. You need to wait until ATOVS data is
transmitted....).

See the bottom of page:
http://www.david-taylor.myby.co.uk/wxsat/atovs/index.html

I'm suggesting this as a way of determining if the 500 PID is coming
through the SkyStar portion of the system, even if the Tellique
software is subsequently rejecting access.

Cheers,
David

That's interesting Peter. My username and password originates from pre MSG

username/password would do for MSG.

Douglas,

The 17th is, I think, just the first day for removing the old
passwords for people who now have eTokens. I vaguely recall that
Eumetsat ask you to check that you have all the services you expect
when you first install the eToken, and report back to them. Only
when they know that you are OK would the old password be taken away,
I guess.

They are very aware of how important an uninterrupted flow of data
is to the users!

Cheers,
David
