Look up on Amazon: "Inverto Black Ultra"

I found it helpful to have more than one output, and I actually have quad. This allows monitoring on the extra feeds, or even a second receiver for HVS-1 or HVS-2.

Vincenzo,

only a few users have a prime focus dish. So go for a common Sat-TV offset dish.
In Italy you should get the highly recommended "Gibertini OP 125L" aluminum dish.
With this antenna and a good LNB (Inverto Black Ultra) you can get up to SNR=15dB.

Be aware that this asks for a very sturdy pole (e.g. 90mm) because of high wind loads.
Expect that pointing a 125cm dish is very sensitve compared to your current 80cm model.

Regards,
Ernst

Today I called a friend who works in a shop that sells Dishes asking him for the 120cm dish and he told me that

he has none of that size Prime Focus but only Offset.

Will it be OK for our purpose or I need forcely a Prime Focus one?

SNR=9.1dB is far too low for HVS-1 reception and it also produces missed packets and missing keys for BAS.
This has been stated many many many times on this list. You need at least SNR=11.3dB and this is possible
with an 80cm dish. So don't even ask again before you have SNR > 11dB and don't ask how to point your dish.

That is often symptomatic of a weak signal, or possibly some other cause of packet loss.

The tellicast in one folder and in the MSGSM I gave as path:

Are stretched out, if I remember it was as I saw before the RSS ones.
Any advices please?
I do not know if the MSGDM is to use also for the HVS-1 reception.
Thanks for your efforts.

Enzo,

The programs have sensible defaults, and all have read-me files. I suggest you refer to the notes you made when you first installed them. You can check the FAQ as well:

https://www.satsignal.eu/software/faq.htm

The default install from EUMETSAT does separate out the data into different directories, but I suggest you start with what you currently have.

Stretched thumbnail images for RSS is normal. The saved images should have the correct aspect ratio. If the images in the full-scan or IODC are wrong follow the instructions here:

https://www.satsignal.eu/software/faq.htm#MSG-Q66

The MSG Data Manager can handle the 10-minute Himawari data on the HVS-1 stream.

Vincenzo,

As far as I can see all your licences are current. Updates and beta versions
can be downloaded from my Web site.

I run all the beta versions as if they were "production" versions, so I would
advise:

- First update to the current version of each program (making sure to read
the release notes).

Current: https://www.satsignal.eu

- Then update to the beta versions if there are features you need.

Subject: [MSG-1] Got it!!!!!!

Hello Folks,

This message to tell everyone that helped that finally I got it.

Yes finally I got both incoming data from both BAS and HVS-1

With just 1 dish and the SR1 device.

I have understood that my dish is small for both the services,

Just 80cm from South Italy, but nevertheless, with the help of the

Ayecka-SR1-console software and a fine tuning of the dish

I managed to get the signal from 8.6 to 9.1 and can get both the services.

In the next days I  will try to increase the size of the dish to at least 100cm

But if I can manage it as I have to put it on the balcony, I will try with a 120cm one.

Again a big Thanks to thanks to those who spent a word in helping me.

xrit2pic can do this. Basically it takes MSG raw data (HRIT, native), but jpeg as input should also be possible. It generates a growing movie as data comes in, until a certain length is reached. Then it removes one frame from start and adds one at the end, resulting in a fixed-length movie. You can also define a fresh start at some time. Max. length of movie can also be defined.
I run it here constantly; old data is removed, so I never get a full disk, without any interference.
Using it as postprocessing from PyTROLL data should also be possible. No gui needed; there is a command line version of xrit2pic without need of all the gtk-stuff. I use it in combination with crontab and a python script which takes care of running xrit2pic as soon as new data has arrived.
The generated avi file contains among other things a simple concatenation of jpeg files so there is no compression in time.

Matthias,

good to see you got it working. I only realized now, that the script I gave you was a Quick&Dirty solution from my side.
Of course you are very limited regarding composites with this russian bird. I also tried ir_overview but this needs
additional definitions in pppconfig. Overview is also what I normally use and your image looks as expected.

Ernst,

I have made some adjustments to the GOMS3 script. Now it should work on a Windows 10 PC. I hope the resulting image I have attached here looks as expected.

Processing of rawdata is done via your Linux Pytroll scripts on a Proxmox LXC (Debian Buster). I'm still in discovery to explore all features - so far the majority of examples shown here i'm able to process (as well). In addition i rendered animations via ffmpeg of MSG1+GOES16 pictures - looks cool.

FYI Christian Peters has experimented with Promox, Glances and Grafana as well. I tend to do everything on the receiver PC (or at least store all data there) and I use simple Apache2, RRDtool, eLuna, own scripts for TC system monitoring.
