Arne,
I've got same readme file, and I saw fsy increased, as I posted in my previous messages. Now Tellicast is stopped again... I must reboot.... Now I've disabled ch.5&6 in revc-channels file. R: MSG-2 trial experience
Giuseppe Cico
Yesterday my Tellicast has fault... I've had to reboot... log file was full
of something like ... ERR:2006-05-17 21:06:28.809:Cannot join channel "EUMETSAT Data Channel 2": Missing key 31055 ERR:2006-05-17 21:06:32.246:Cannot join channel "EUMETSAT Data Channel 5": Failed to decode key 31058 My revc.ini was set to "file_database_size=24576000"... I've ramdisk up to 256M so I've set to 62914560. Now fsy file has grown to 22154240, and reception is ok unless today MSG-1 out-of-duty. If I wasn't at work I'd switched temporarily to MSG-2, so I wondered if in the future we can schedule such changeovers when MSG-1 will be the backup sat. David, this is yours... if it's possible... :-) Have a good evening, ciao Giuseppe -----Messaggio originale----- Da: MSG-1@yahoogroups.com [mailto:MSG-1@yahoogroups.com]Per conto di Giuseppe Cico Inviato: martedì 16 maggio 2006 21.27 A: MSG-1 Oggetto: [MSG-1] MSG-2 trial experience Hi all, I'm keeping some time to focus on 2-days-trial... Firstly my system seems funny to deal with 4+Mbps data flow... he's so fine... From yesterday until 16 today I've saved MSG-2 on HD (at the moment I have all raw data from yest.10 to today 16), without processing, just to keep high traffic, and creating some kind of reports viewed from office. I remember fsy file sized about 9MB. Back home I've set MSG-2 channels saved to ramdisk and MDM to them deleted while processing MSG-1, and now fsy is 13M. This is not a problem, just a curiosity... anyway it works!!! I've not tried to process MSG-2 data, because in the past I tried to process old data and if I understand MDM behaviour, it doesn't like out-of-time data. I suppose it's correctly built to process data in current 15min timeslot, not older... more or less... who knows... I'm waiting for Tellicast update too... Ulrich, maybe They provide it only on Eumetcast flow because we're an "elite" to receive it... "MSG Crusaders"... :-) Ciao to all Giuseppe [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Re: MSG-1 data since about 12:30
Douglas Deans <dsdeans@...>
Hi all, Has anyone else noticed no data on channel 2 (i.e. HRIT) since about 12:30 FSD is OK but I've got no MSG1 images since lunch time - is it me? Regards Nick No, see the OPS message today. Following the problems encountered on Met-8 during preparations for the orbital manoeuvre on Tuesday, 16/5/06 (day 136), it is now necessary to reconfigure to the backup Attitude and Orbit Control Electronics (AOCE). This will cause a 2 hour outage of SEVIRI images, followed by a 2 hour high-risk period. Additionally, there will be degraded image quality for some hours following this configuration change. It is planned to start this operation at 1200 UTC on Thursday, 18/5/06 (day 138). The last scan was actually 12.30 UTC. Regards Douglas.

In my .ini file I haveKen, just to be sure, how long have you not been receiving MSG-1. MSG-1 is currently off as per the OPS advisory :- Following the problems encountered on Met-8 during preparations for the orbital manoeuvre on Tuesday, 16/5/06 (day 136), it is now necessary to reconfigure to the backup Attitude and Orbit Control Electronics (AOCE). This will cause a 2 hour outage of SEVIRI images, followed by a 2 hour high-risk period. Additionally, there will be degraded image quality for some hours following this configuration change. It is planned to start this operation at 1200 UTC on Thursday, 18/5/06 (day 138). In fact the last scan was 12.30 UTC. I'll respond to your other points depending on your reply (just going out). Are you receiving MSG-2 ok. Regards Douglas.

Recently David T wrote in part;
"However, I am concerned that folk who do not already filter their data by using the recv-channels.ini file may be overwhelmed by having two lots of data in the same directory, but I am sure that the group here will help if that is the case.In my .ini file I have ------------------------------------ [*] target_ directory d:msg\received ------------------------------------ I have nothing in the .ini about EUMETSAT Data Channels. Since applying to Eumetsat to be included in the MSG2 tests, I now receive ONLY Admin Messages. I do not receive any MSG1 files. Do I have a problem with my .ini file or is the problem with my EKU update? Thanks in advance Ken.

I nipped over to Heathrow at lunchtime to see the arrival of the Airbus A 380 - IT'S BIG! - I was right at the end of the runway as it screamed low right overheard - coming in, I might add, at an alarming angle in the strong cross winds. Got back home to find MSG D M stuck on 12:30 cycle but Zone Alarm 'traffic light' showing data flow, green satellite icon and 'pink T' - 'Oh dear, now what?' Brief panic till I read the EUMETSAT messages. Trouble is I'll have holes in an interesting animation. Regards, John Tellick.

Indeed Douglas,
Could not find a viewer for BUFR data that runs on windows. KNMI uses Fortran software that runs on Linux/Unix. Not sure if the site belows shows the same data but I do see coverage is very limited at this moment. http://www.knmi.nl/scatterometer/ers_prod/ers_app.cgi But this is a trial to test and prepare for the EPS data.
