Processing MSG-2 trial data
a_van_belle
If you subscribed to the MSG-2 trial and do want to process this data
you have to setup MSG Data manager for this. When running the more recent versions, go to Setup, Advanced and choose Satellite MSG-2 instead of MSG-1. Be carefull because if you have "Delete other" activated in the same setupscreen then all MSG-1 rawdata will be deleted unprocessed ! Good luck, Arne van Belle

Re: MSG-2 data going to .....?
a_van_belle
1 If you have [*] in recv-channels.ini then MSG2 rawdata will be
placed in the received folder were the MSG1 data is. 2 If you run David's MSG Data Manager with version lower than 2.50.547 then MSG1 data will be processed normally and MSG2 data is deleted silently. This will not put much additional strain on your PC. If your EKU is enabled for the MSG-2 trial, make sure you check free space on your disk daily, it won't be hard to see 8 Gb of data added per day ! Greetings, Arne van Belle

All, [Though I suspect David will know] I have not yet updated to the latest MSG Data Manager software (I know - I Now - and I suspect I'm not the only person wondering about this - where is Is this data going to clog up my computer? Will it auto delete as does current data in line with the various data Regards, Two issues here John. With the old software I would expect the raw data to be filling up your 'received' folder (or wherever you put your raw data). However it does depend on how you have managed your recv-channels.ini file. If you have left in the '*' (if you have not edited this file it will be there by default) then all channels, including the new ones will put raw data into your 'received' folder. If on the other hand (as I do) you have the '*' hashed out then you must specify each channel separately eg. [EUMETSAT Data Channel 2] target_directory=received When you do this it means that by leaving out a channel (put a # in front of it) the raw data will not clog up your received folder. Specifying each channel separately like that (and remember by the end of the year we will have over 20 channels) gives you much more control. David has already done a mail explaining this. Meantime if data has piled up in your 'received ' folder simply delete it. Hope that helps. Regards Douglas.

good to know. I use an automatically command that deletes all the files in the C:\T-Systems\BusinessTV-IP\received\*.* And in C:\T-Systems\BusinessTV-IP\received\done\*.*. I hope I did not delete it. I will check carefully in the next days before delete the files. Thanks Arne for the info. 73 de Enzo IK8OZV EasyLog 5 BetaTester EasyLog PDA BetaTester WinBollet BetaTester D.C.I. MSG-2 data going to .....?
geojohnt@...
All,
[Though I suspect David will know] I have not yet updated to the latest MSG Data Manager software (I know - I know!) but I see my data throughput via the TELLICAST graph is now 4 MB's - my EKU having been activated. Now - and I suspect I'm not the only person wondering about this - where is all this new data going - where do I find it? Is this data going to clog up my computer? Will it auto delete as does current data in line with the various data channel pre-set delete regimes? Regards, John Tellick.

Getting both MSG-1 and MSG-2 data here on my backup PC, with no extraYes indeed, encouraged here to think the system is working with over 4.0M data rate and no loss of segments. Congrats all round. I just wonder if the MSG-2 visual data is ever so slightly more noisy (grainy) - perhaps awaiting decontamination. I haven't conducted a proper test yet, so it could just be a subjective impression at this point. Cheers James -- James Brown
