Re: Hot Bird

I just run on through the 'outs' and pick up the signal again when it restarts -
I usually only know about outages when I read the list mesages (or run an
animation). Tellique software runs solo on its own computer with Windows XP
Professional.

Thanks, Douglas. As ever, my Tellique software stopped responding
at that
point, requiring a reboot. So what with a lightning strike on a
local
substation (cutting off my Cable Modem Internet connection), and
snow and
heavy rain, it was quite a day yesterday!

Cheers,

Interesting, I wonder how many others have their Tellique software
stop responding, mine ran through with no problems. Runs in remote
computer all alone with XP Professional. Is it an operating system
problem or multiple programs?

I have a couple of programs reading GRIB data and the extension is *.grb

here is a link for northern Europe GRIB Data:
http://www.navcenter.com/grb/NorthEurope.grb.bz2

Is GRIB2 different from GRIB. I never heard from GRIB2 up to now.

Jan,

Add decimal PID 301 to receive Ch3 and FSD. MPEF files are on this channel.

outlines registered correctly. Strange.

somehow we don't seem to be receiving any MPEF products. Does anyone
know what channel they are on? And where is the FSD? Extra registration
required?

You need data channel 3, please see:

http://www.david-taylor.myby.co.uk/wxsat/atovs/index.html

If you are using the MSG Data Manager, please ensure that data from both
channels 2 and 3 is saved to a common folder.

I don't know what the licence situation will be with MPEF products, sorry.
The CTH one is currently available free on WEFAX.

No, not with existing software.
I can't answer for future possibilities !

Yes this is the start of the MPEF meteorological products as was advised by
Eumetsat. I am not clear as to whether we will continue to receive this
data although (unlike MDD) there seems no reason (although I did not select
it on my registration). For more info. on the products see Eumetsat TD 11.
Previous wefax users will of course recognise the CTH (cloud top heights)
named product as this was sent on channel 2.
