Hi John, the same here on the South Coast signal range between 13.1 down to 9.8, wonder if this could be due to the recent sunspot activity and the huge Solar flare that hit the Earth this past weekend.

My SNR is down around 1+ dB but my Power reading is up by 2 dBm - sometimes it's 3 dBm up at -22 dbM almost off the SR1 Power dial.

I had a quick update from Ops today who say:

I am seeing a further deterioration in the TP-1 signal ( not monitoring
TP-2 ) and yesterday evening it was down to about 11.3 SNR when I would
be expecting 12.9/13.1. and the conditions were clear.

This morning a slight recovery from last night's lows but the signal is
still lower than yesterday.

It seems to be taking rather long to sort out and I am hoping this is
not the new normal --- fingers crossed.

Thanks Heiko.
Your  message appreciated.
My problem now resolved- weak signal from my dish.
I saw something on this group regarding a similar problem- David Taylor mentioned to check the signal- and that was exactly my problem.

Hi Kubus

I reinstalled today Eumetcast and the etoken software- but something went wrong.
In the log file of System Client 2.14.6 I get the following error messages:
"could not join channel A1C- GEO-1 missing key- 63468" - the same for 2, 3, etc- a wrong setting in Eumetcast?
Can have multiple reasons.....

* is your token recognized properly

* is your license active ?
--> what does line host_key_4 in the "License" section of you Tellicast-webpage look like ?

* did you possibly miss to setup the [recipient] section in your cast_client_XYZ.ini
--> user_name and user_key

Some more informations would be helpful.

Best regards

Heiko

TP 1 SNR.

geojohnt@...

Ian and All,

Oh, this is ridiculous SNR has been up - to usual level, as well as rather down like a yo-yo these last few days.

I've just been out to my patio dish to give it a tweak but it didn't need it, I can't improve my SNR which at 14:05 UTC is 12.8/.9/13.00 dB.
I see that there is a large thunder storm over Aflenz and the Vienna ground station - as it is so close - at the moment.

Regards,
John.

OT: Perfect Vision Birdog sat meter for sale

Frank Kosta <fppmc66@...>

Dear All

As I sold my Ayecka SR1 early this month, I no longer have use for the Perfect Vision Birdog Sat meter. This is the USA version of the popular Horizon HDSM v2.50 (manual here).
Usually the Birdog models only have USA footprint sats, but this one has a special file with many of the popular EU sats:

V  Turksat-2A  42E
H  Turksat-2A  42E
V  HellasSat2  39E
H  HellasSat2  39E
V  Astra-2A   28.2E
H  Astra-2A   28.2E
V  Badr-4         26E

V  Astra-1      19.2E
H  Astra-1      19.2E
V  Eutel-16A     16E

V  Eutelsat-9A    9E
H  Eutelsat-9A    9E
V  Eutelsat-7A    7E

H  Amos-2          4W
H  Eutel-5WA     5W
V  Nilesat-101    7W
V  Eutel-7WA  7.3W
H  Eutel-7WA  7.3W
H  Eutel-8WA     8W
V  Hispasat       30W
H  Hispasat       30W

(please note I can't guaranty all sats IDs are still valid, but I believe most are).

The meter is in perfect working condition. The cosmetic condition is fair (photos on request).
The battery was purchased new a couple years ago and has plenty of life left but I am not sure if I am able to ship it. I guess it depends on destination/courier.
Comes with "leather" carry case. No cables.

Price: £100 plus postage
Payment via PayPal Family and Friends or Bank transfer.
Thank you
Regards,
Frank

Robert,

Thanks for the screen-shots. You may have inconsistent directories. On the system here:

Kepler Updater. Historic Keplers:

C:\Tools\Radio\HRPTreader\Keps\Updates\

In the AVHRR Manager, Kepler path:

C:\Tools\Radio\HRPTreader\

You could try running the HRPT Reader to see whether it can see the Keplers (View, Diagnostics), and you could try pressing the HRPT button in the AVHRR Manager.

Something must have changed as it worked before.

Robert,

It's very unlikely that Windows-10 updates would cause WXtrack to stop seeing Kepler files - there is no such issue here on multiple Windows-10 systems.

One issue could be if you have installed my software in the "Program Files" or similar directory. Use something like C:\Tools\SatSignal\WXtrack instead. The fact that the Kepler Updater can write the new Kepler files suggests this is unlikely.

On the WXtrack setup tab, check that the path for Kepler data is correct. Use the Browse... button to check.

OK, so chase the WXtrack error first, and perhaps the AVHRR Manager will then be OK. Check where WXtrack is set to look for Kepler data, check the contents of that directory, and check the individual files. What happens if you run the Kepler Updater manually - what error shows?

Other obvious checks might include the Kepler Updater requiring Internet access (firewall), and ask when did it last work, when did it stop working, what changed in between? Perhaps an over zealous anti-virus program?
