Roland,

first of all this can only work if "desktop-pl2a052" resolves to some IP address. But maybe this is only a Windows name given to your receiver PC?
If you open a CMD window (black "DOS-Window") on your receiver PC and enter "ipconfig"  this will show you the true numeric IP that is actually used.

The -- nicht sicher -- might be only a warning of your browser Edge (ignor it) because it's still http:// and NOT https://. So SSL should be of no concern.
What I do not know is whether there might be a firewall issue on a Windows receiver blocking LAN access to port 8100. All my receivers run on GNU/Linux.

Ernst

Hallo, Ernst
my host address is now : "desktop-pl2a052:8100"
it also says -- nicht  sicher - not secure
My OS is windows 10 64 bit.
My browser is Microsoft Edge.
probably due to faulty SSL settings ?
Could you suggest to me a way out ?
Thanks in advance.

Hugo,

thanks a lot for your first look at the problem. My OOP knowledge is just enough to use some methods but I never programmed an object so far.
I had a look with h5dump into the FY-2G/H files and they seem quite simple. If we had a reader making some Satpy composites should be easy.
It's more on this level that me and Christian Peters could contribute. This would make a nice extension of the Starter Kit 3.0 for Basic Service.

Kind regards,

Ernst

Re: PyTROLL/SatPy Starter Kit V3.0 for GNU/Linux

Hugo

Hello Ernst,

I looked at the list of readers and indeed a reader for FY-2G/H is missing., although there are plenty of readers using HDF5.
It shouldn't be to complicated to write such a reader, but of course my experience in Python is rather limited.
The developer's guide seems to be  very extensive, which is good...

Likely means that you have an instance of the TelliCast software already running. Kill one instance with the Task Manager.

Hugo,

as you know my OOP knowledge is close to zero and I mostly work with mc and the command line.
SatPy is lacking a reader for FY-2G/H that we receive in Basic Service EUMETSAT_Data_Channel_12.

You have written a FY-2G/H C++ reader in your program EUMETCastView for these satellites.
How about contributing a Python reader for these satellites to Pytroll/Satpy using PyCharm?

TBH I have no idea what this means in hours of programming and testing. Relevant links are:

Seems that somewhere hidden is an incorrect HTTP address blocking access to data channel data ? I remember vaguely that the correct http address "local host: 2517" ??
must be put via the internet explorer ? I must add that due to an incorrect audio setting prior I was forced to reload my notebook.
I would be most grateful if some members of your forum could look into my problem and provide me with their expert advice.
Thank you in advance for your kind assistance.
Kind regards,

Roland,

The port 2517 is deprecated. EUMETSAT port numbers used for the TC clients WEB interfaces are now:

BASIC Service  8100
HVS-1 Service  8200
HVS-2 Service  8201

You can try on the receiver PC http://localhost:8100  or http://localhost:8200
If your receiver PC is on a LAN and you know its IP address you should be able to acces from other PCs with
http://IP-OF-YOUR-RECEIVER:8100 or http://IP-OF-YOUR-RECEIVER:8200      (IP-OF-YOUR-RECEIVER something like 192.168.1.20)

Ernst

On MS-Edge refresh or F5 doesn't change a thing, but with Chrome the page loads properly here. I have no clue why that is, but it is not your site, nor Brexit :-)

Thanks for checking.
