Hi Vimone

1. You only require one dish. Mine is 1.25metres. 2. You do not require a dual output as only one cable is needed to the receivers. 3. If you already have a SR1 receiver, you must have another receiver as well. This can be another SR1, but i have the highly recommended TBS6903 which works well under windows10 4.The cable from the antenna must be split in to two so then there will be a cable to connect to each receiver. I use a splitter near my computer and now i have two cables. One cable goes in to the RF input of the SR1 and the other cable in to the TBS6903 PCI card. 5. I have BAS and HVS-1 on the SR1 and HVS-2 on the TBS6903 card. 6. I use Davids software for viewing MSG Data Manager for HVS-1 and BAS data ModisL1 Viewer for HVS-2 data As regards setting up . I suggest you read the manuals on Eumetsats website https://www.eumetsat.int/access-our-data, and David Taylors website http://satsignal.eu/for his software manuals. This video might help as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dI46O1HeGrU I am not confident enough to assist in setting up someone else system , it was hard enough for myself . I would hate to suggest something that may mess things up for you. All i can tell you that the above hardware setting up works perfectly. Good Luck Philip

Hi There is only one line from the dish and I use a splitter and then use one of the cables to the RF1 input at the SR1 for BAS and HVS-1 , and the other cable to the TBS6903 PCIcard for HVS-2. I had a lot of help on here to get it all working and just glad to give a little advice back..although I am not too technical. Hope that reassures that it does work.
I was advised to use the SR1 for BAS and the TBS6903 for HVS-1 and HVS-2 , so it seems to work either way but I already had BAS and HVS-1 set up on my SR1 so I just used the other cable to the TBS6903 for HVS-2. Regards Philip

David,Yes, one dish handles both BAS, HVS-1 and HVS-2. Either: dual output and two receivers Or: single output and a dual receiver such as the TBS6903. Ayecka SR1 receivers only take either BAS/HVS-1 or HVS-2. I've not used an SR1 for both BAS and HVS-1 so that information needs to be checked. Only RF1 is activated for EUMETCast. I RTFM at the section you said: 4.5.2 but I could not find the answer to my questions. What I want to know it is possible receive both BAS and HVS-1 or HVS-2 or TER-1in the same time and on the Same Dish. If not wrong I need a dual output LN. One output to RF1 and the other to RF2. Is it correct? I have tried to swap the actual cable, that I use on RF1 for Bas Services on RF2 but the LED does Not switch to green. Maybe I need to set the RF2 port. Is it correct? Please can you confirm my questions to clear my mind? Thanks 73’s de Enzo IK8OZV EasyLog 5 BetaTester EasyLog PDA BetaTester WinBollet BetaTester D.C.I. Help Please
Vincenzo Mone
Hi Folks, I am still struggling to get all running properly without success. Please I do not know if I am making the connections to the right way. I have connected the SR1 to the Dish but I cannot remember if I also need the Network connection. Unfortunately I do not have the possibility to connect the SR1 to the Router as it is in another room. I have also an USB LAN adapter that I do not know if I can use it. I Have tried to connect it through an USB port and the SR1 but I do not understand how to set it properly. Actually I have installed on the PC the EKU and tellicast softwares but when I run the BAS service I get the icon on the tray fixed to yellow an d it would not turn white. Please any advices??? Thanks

Re: TP 1 SNR - 'level.'

David and Douglas,
I animate MSG-4 IR Europe sector 24/7 and there was indeed a lot of bad weather in Europe but the worst (purple) was east of eastern Austria.
Around the two uplink stations at that time is was fairly 'clear' compared to the east.
But something certainly whacked the signal.
Regards,
John..

And especially Open Source software doesn't work by just "asking" for something. I have already fixed a couple of things in drivers for Linux and Christian has also tested the RASPI with a TBS-5925 as router. Unfortunately he always had too much lost packets and we found no cure. TelliCast is COTS software of Newtec and EUMETSAT has little influence whether or not Newtec makes an ARM version available. And as you remember EUMETSAT already struggles to have a working set of GNU/Linux scripts available. So you might have to dream on. BTW and IIRC you wanted to make a systemd ready set of TelliCast scripts. Did I miss the publication of those ;-) ? Regards, Ernst

The reason for me using the native format is that I have now 2
home's, I am mostly in my home without receiver.

To get it from satelliet is maybe more 'sportive', yes, but even more sportive if you receive it from the actual weather satellites... ;-) Nice thing of a RPI is that it is very low power (max. 15W, mostly much lower, waiting for new data). So it would be nice if Tellicast also works on RPI; the receiver PC is the one running constantly, processing maybe now and then. With the native format from internet I can just let my RP run full time, and can show results on the same RPI or another PC (full data processing done on RPI). Indeed best is to buy the RPI with biggest amount of memory, i.e. 8 GB, it's just 20 euro's more than 4 GB. And nice thing of the native format is that you can get old data just as easy. That way I was able to create the 3 (now nearly 4)-month A-68A movie. Rob.

years ago, I asked Eumetsat for an ARM version of the Tellicast
software and got a negative reply, but they said they would
consider it. Now ARM is absolutely mainstream, with Apple adopting
the architecture for their machines, so there is some hope. A RPI4
has more cpu power than Ernst's oldtimer PCs and if somebody would
make use of the GPU for some processing it could really shine. IO
is the weak point, but an external 1TB USB3 SSD (80€) will be good
enough for most purposes. Markus Am 23.01.2021 um 17:22 schrieb

@Rob Yes, Tellicast doesn’t provide an ARM client. Interesting to get the data via internet. Btu O think get it vi satellite is more sportive. I run two Linux receivers and did a quick connect of the Pi to one of the receivers via cifs (samba). Works nice. Files are read direct from the receiver disk. I compiled the Wavelet decompression software on the ARM, runs flawless - the scripts from Ernst use this compiled version. You could speed up the processing if you do the Wavelet decompression on the receiver, even uncompressing the .bz2?! I would choose the 8GB version if some think about buying a new PI4 … or search for a 64bit secondhand computer to dive into Pytroll. Regards, Christian
