Hi!

If you are on Python Miniconda 3.7 you should upgrade to 3.8 (latest version) !

Hartmut,

Current users => I don’t understand why python would have to be deinstalled. It all works perfectly well on the existing platform. Satpy was the only upgrade (v0.25.1 iirc). I did rename the existing EMCdata and EMCtools directories to []-Old, so that I have temporarily access to adaptations I made, but no deinstall of any kind was needed.

Hi, Old Farts!

Ernst, you forget to mention, current users of miniconda have to deinstall python miniconda first!

I started a clean install and everthing works fine.

Dear Members

Here comes the Pytroll/Satpy EUMETCast Windows Starter Kit V3.0 (YES 3.0). It should be "Childs Play" to get it working.
I have double checked all the scripts on my Windows 10 Pro 64Bit PC that got the files readonly from a SAMBA share Z:.

My definition of "Childs Play" remains the same as for V1.0:

 0) You know that you have Windows 10 64Bit
 1) You are not completely new to EUMETCast
 2) You read and follow the HOWTO inside (RTFM)
 3) You know where you find your satellite files

All scripts have been developt under Debian 10 GNU/Linux. An almost identical Starter Kit for this OS will follow soon.

Have fun
Ernst

Ernst,

Thanks for all the work you’ve put into this.  I see that you’ve made quite some standardization, which will make communication between users a lot easier as they’ll all sing from the same sheet of music.

I’ll comment later after having gone through it all.

Cheers,

Ferdinand

Evaluation copies of Windows 10 Windows Insider DEV

seggins2000

Dear All,

I doubt that there are many of you who are involved in Windows Insider.
However, let me issue a warning.
Builds 21277 and 21286 prevent the functioning of BDADataEx and TBS-IPdata. I suspect a 6903 driver problem as the latter runs but fails to lock on anything and the former fails to start.
I am back to running 20279.
I hope there is a way of overcoming this problem.
If anyone has got round this issue I would love to hear about it.
Regards
John

PS Yes I know....don't keep fixing things that aint broke!

Philip,

Yes, nothing to alter in the SR1 configuration.

As I said at the start, there's no single "correct" way to do this, particularly if you have a PC with no PCIe slots (a portable?) or you don't like opening the PC and getting the power source correct (these cards do consume a low of power, and may need to power the LNB at the antenna too).

They have an additional power connector but likely your PC has a spare power lead. Note the J4 jack at the top right of the board in section 1.2 of the user manual.

Hi David

On the PCI Express website under the drivers tab there is a download for a TBS6909XChangeModeTool.exe which I assume will do the same

I wont know until my card arrives on Monday
