.. and that sounds like the resolution accepted by GeoSatSignal, and sent over EUMETCast.

All,

O.K. here is the one from today:

https://www.wetterzentrale.de/maps/archive/2020/bra/BRA_1_2020122000_45.png

Does anybody know what kind of map projection they use?

Cheers,
Ernst

All,

It seems you can get a *.png directly like this:

John,

As indicated in an earlier message, the ocean floor profile and the in-locu current most likely drives it south around South Georgia  and then up northeast. However, the radar image of today shows many tears in the ice and as yet it is impossible to estimate how deep these go. So it may drift around or it may disintegrate or break up before it reaches east.

In any case, nice to see things unfolding in real time.

Where will it go next?

There's a higher resolution "Bracknell" chart as part of the EUMETCast stream, or there used to be. GeoSatSignal knows about it.

Bracknell over DWDSAT - e.g. fx401-egrr_bwk_nt_p_000_000-0906070600-afsv.tiff and at least two other variants!

I suggest asking DWD or Ops.

Francis I have also been downloading from http://old.wetterzentrale.de/pics/bracka.gif for a very long time. But today I got ‘This site can’t be reached’. May just be a weekend glitch – unless you’ve had problems for longer. I’ll try again tomorrow.

Now I check, I have this error as well on a PC where the Perl version (perl -v) is reported as:

Perl 5, version 32, subversion 0 (v5.32.0)

Unless there's a problem, I would simply ignore the error. Please let us know if you do find more.

So it's already near the South Georgia?

Where A68 (d?) broke off

Ferdinand Valk

Attached is a brief animation of the pytroll-satpy image projected over the
sea floor profile for both December 17 and 18. It is clearly seen where and
why the piece broke off and why the A68 iceshelf follows the course it does.

Re: Pytroll/SatPy for EUMETCast

Maurizio,

you find some more composites in .../miniconda3/envs/pytroll/lib/phyton3.8/site-packages/satpy/etc/composites/olci.yaml
These all work with the 3 channels I untar. You have far more olci channels and every possibility to invent your own stuff.
But maybe after searching days for an 's' that got lost with copy and paste this is not exactly the first thing you should do :-).

Ernst

Ernst,

Switzerland is very interesting for mountains and lakes, A68 is very exciting,…but Italy is very Beautiful for mountains, lakes and sea a just a little bit of snow on the Appennins

Now I deserve a suggestion.

What possibility do we have to adjust image enhancement?  I'd like to reduce the equalizing effect a bit or using Natural color,  but I have not found where to operate

Maurizio

Maurizio,

good to hear it finally works. Now try area 'switzerland'. You have to comment (#) the coordinates of 'sgeorgia300' and uncomment those of 'switzerland' in the parameter section of the script.
And set area = 'switzerland'. Maybe you should work with a copy of the script. And please do not always quote and repost on MSG-1 the whole stuff (including images!)  you are answering.
