Re: New EUMETCastView 1.4.8 release
Hugo
Hello Esko,
EUMETCastView is written as a pure interactive program. The program is able to process most satellite imagery send by EumetCast. Examples of images processed by EUMETCastView : https://www.flickr.com/photos/137270544@N02/ A very short 'userguide' (old!) : https://hvanruys.github.io/ The program EUMETCastWatcher is obsolete. It moved the received files to a directory in the following format : YYYY/MM/DD. This directory structure is used by the software of David Taylor and by EUMETCastView. Kind regards, Hugo

SR1 RX Status.
geojohnt@...
Hi,
Calling all SR1 users.
Does anyone know the 'workings' of the (Telnet accessed) SR1 RX status readout?
Do the Bad Frame Count and Bad Packet Count auto clean every so often?
I'm monitoring my TC missed packets for an Ops report - which was interrupted by the recent co-linearity events and yesterday's storm so I'll have to start again.
Ops suggested looking at the SR1 readouts as well.
At 10:30 UTC this morning I had 195 Bad Frame Counts and 2207 Bad Packet Counts - not sure what that means regarding TC bad packets figures.
At 17:30 UTC this afternoon I had 0 Bad Packet Counts and 0 Bad Frame Counts.
????
All day my SNR has been 13.00 dB plus.
Now 13.4 dB 'very steady' at 19:41.
Is this another anomaly with my SR1 readouts?
Regards,
John Tellick.

Hi,=================================================================================== Many thanks Hugo. All seems to be working fine so appreciate your efforts in re-compiling. While I am writing can I ask one very minor question. Since about 2 or maybe 3 updates ago I notice that the toolbox opens too narrow to see all contents so I have to adjust it. However on closing and re-opening the program it is back to its old too narrow position. Before that it held the chosen size across close/open. Is there some way to fix the size that I am missing. Thanks again for your hard work. Best regards, Douglas.

New EUMETCastView 1.4.8 release
Hugo
Hi,
I included the MERSI images of FY-3D in EUMETCastView. It was long overdue ... I had to compile the new version in Qt 5.15.0, so the old dll's of previous releases won't be compatible... The best thing to do do, is to create a new directory and to copy everything to the new directory. You can of course use the old ini files from the previous release. Always keep a copy of the previous release in case things go wrong .... You will notice that there is a "bow-tie" effect in the images of FY-3D just like the VIIRS images. So to get a clean picture you must use a projection. Kind regards, Hugo

Ernst, Graham, Thanks for sending; I have now a couple of files.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Btw, these ARE readable using hdf5-software, but to extract the right info you need to know the buildup. That's also the case for MTG and GOES16/17. I don't think any hdf5-reader can read and interpret FY3D, MTG or GOES etc., without explicitely integrating the way the data is put into the hierarchical file, which is different for each mentioned satellite. h5dump extracts hdf5-files and shows it in ASCII (don't try to print it ! ;-)) Regards, Rob.

I'm on GNU/Linux. But David has a description of single cable operation here: https://www.satsignal.eu/wxsat/dvb-s2/T1-T2.html Maybe it's not exactly up to date but the Windows community can/will help you. Ernst

Hello
Thanks, What about BDADataEx do you need to have 2 instances or how you are doing tuning of 2 frequencies ? Another Question: About telicast. i have been wondering that currently i need to set interface address to 0.0.0.0 instead of IP of SR1 or Satellite card. No you know any reason for that ? Br. Esko P

Two instances is for HVS-1 + HVS-2 as described by David. But you can even take all three services with a single cable and then must run 3 TelliCast client instances. Ernst

What you means as singe cable connection. The TBS-6903 has two tuners and demodulators to pick out the exact frequencies. Two instances of the tellicast client must run of course. This works fine under Windows and GNU/Linux. Regards Ernst

Sorry David,I did not have any files as I was not taking the satellite
data as I had no way of using the data in windows. I will start taking data tomorrow for one day, so I have files available. Regards Ian. ======================== Ah, OK, I hadn't appreciated that you didn't have the data! Good luck with the Python stuff. As Python works on Linux it should work on Windows with very minor tweaks. The segments where we see the black gaps pretend in their file names to be the standard length of app. 85 seconds. But their size is often only 50% of normal segments. For FY-3D half of the pass over U.K. is simply missing. It's not disseminated. Documented for OPS on 3 orbits each. Regards Ernst
