Thanks for both pieces of information.

If I understand correctly, this can all be decoded in Python's PyTROLL, so that should work under Windows? Correct? If so, I'll not waste effort duplicating what's already available.

For Suomi_NPP and Noaa_20 I can confirm your observations. The segments where we see the black gaps pretend
in their file names to be the standard length of app. 85 seconds. But their size is often only 50% of normal segments.

For FY-3D half of the pass over U.K. is simply missing. It's not disseminated. Documented for OPS on 3 orbits each.

FY-3D segments are 1 minute long as you can see in the file names.
They come in pairs: 1000M image data and GEO reference files.

I had a look at all three sats Noaa_20 (VIIRS), Suomi_NPP (VIIRS), and FY-3D (MERSI) for the last 3 days.
It's quite obvious that the EARS processing/dissemination chain is broken somehow. I'll report that to OPS.

Sorry to hear that! I don't associate Finland with a high thunderstorm risk.

How did the device fail - was it through the power connections, network connections, or the RF input?

I know that some people have had power supply failures (overheating?). If the failure was through the RF connector perhaps there's a lightning arrester you could fit? These should be easily available for the F connector used in satellite TV, but check they are rated for up to 1.7 GHz (satellite TV could be up to 2 GHz).

Yes, I'm using a TBS6903 PCIe card in a PC receiving both T1/HVS-1 and T2/HVS-2 (likely it would do BAS as well but I have no need in that PC). It's in the single-cable configuration. Works well, but the TBS IP reception software continually crashed that Windows-10 PC, so I use BDADataEx instead. It doesn't stretch that PC much - it's receive-only supply a limited subset of HVS-1 data (GOES-16/17 and Himawari) over the house network.

Hello

Double tuner with T1+T2 reception is possible with 1 TBS-6903 even with a single cable.
TBS-6908 is like 2 x TBS-6903 (overkill, up to 4 transponders like T1 or T2 possible).

An SR1 can only receive 1 transponder of the EUMETCast T1 or T2 kind (with ACM/VCM).
So you need 2 SR1 for T1+T2 and 2 LNB cables or 1 LNB cable and a HF power splitter.

That is exactly as I get Ernst. In fact for months prior to that scenario there was a version with just a band across the UK missing and some files for further north.
This has been an issue for a while.

The official HDF4/5 does not work for FY3D and as Douglas has confirmed
EUMETCastView has not been updated for Windows for FY3D

As neither of these programs work I will assume there is little point in
sending any files.
