Hi Philip, this is one I now use and it's output at 12v is 2amps.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/c/2256551960

You need one with around 2 amps at 12V

or can anyone recommend a good power supply unit. I am not very electrically experienced and i want to make sure i have the correct one

Philip

This is from the SR1 Manual page 51

9.8 Operating Power
The mains operating power includes the following:
Voltage: 12V
Minimum Current: 1.5A
Connector type 2mm. + in internal contact

So with a PSU rated 12V 2A you should be fine. It should not be less than 2A (that's what the PSU can deliver).
Also 12V 3A will be fine. This will not "burn" your SR1. The receiver just takes what it needs, but the PSU must
be capable to deliver that. There must be some 12V xA indication on your possibly broken Samcon PSU as well.

Ernst

When you read the full description of that power socket  it is advertised as 12V 2A is perfect for anything 2A and below as amperage isn't forced.

I presume therefore it will be fine for my ayecka SR1
thanks
Philip

Re: suddenly not locked through my ayecka sr1

You should find the SR-1 power socket marked as 12v 2amp - or at least the latest SR-1P is, so 0.6amp not nearly enough.

Thanks for the replies.  By a new power supply i presume that is the block plugged in to the wall samcon70200 switching adapter model-SJ-1220-E  . I Will now try to find one or is there an alternative i can use.
thanks

Agreed, James - mine developed exactly the same symptoms as Philip has described and a new power supply solved the problem.

Good luck, Philip!

Do you think that the dish alignment has moved or is it possible that the ayecka SR1 is now faulty.

Its not easy to reach the dish but if this is the problem i will have to get there and realign which i have never done before. The dish was originally aligned by a satellite expert friend. Unfortunately he has since past away.
Any thoughts

Yes, this part uses the same temp-file construction. So 2 fixes in one...

xrit2pic has bunzip2 built-in. It reads both zipped and unzipped Himawari-files. You can also define to keep files which are unzipped as such, so they don't need to be unzipped again; see in:
Preferences, Files, zipping.

Good to hear that it works now.

(Btw, there used to be a xrit2pic mailing list which would be better for these kind of questions, but it seems to be dead now. Long time no activity there...)

Ah that is interesting because yesterday evening I tried some Metop and Himawari data and kept getting a 'preview not available' warning.
Now trying those data with the new revised program all is working fine.
Perhaps they also use a temp folder as with MSG data so the changes have solved that issue as well.  Excellent.

Thanks for your help and I will now try and master the advanced colour settings etc.

Regards,
Douglas.

Rob,

As it makes it easier for folk to follow one list rather than multiple, it's fine for XRIT postings here. We cover Windows and Linux, and there's been quite a lot of Python/PyTroll postings recently. Your choice, of course.

Quentin,

Rather belatedly I was about to answer your posting from a week ago with some more suggestions but you are 'now there.'
Congratulations.

Even as a (very) old timer, setting up a professional digital DVS-S2 receiver with all the required parameters - and aligning the dish is not easy.

You could do with a little more SNR as David has said which may be possible, now you have the satellite, with very slight adjustments of azimuth, elevation, skew and LNB focus -  pushing the LNB forward or back, if it has a long throat, through the LNB holder.

Best wishes,
John.

False alarm!

I cleared the Transport Statistic history and there are no longer "MAC Mismatch" nor "MPE CRC Errors", all 0s.
Everything seems to be working properly!

I think that clotures the topic.
Thank you all, once again, for your availability, patience and good advice.

Quentin

With the non-gui version you can do a test, by typing in a shell:

xrit2pic_cmd -test_temp

and that will show if a temp. file can be created in write mode.
(xrit2pic, so gui mode, does do the same, but in Windows that doesn't output to a shell so that's pretty useless...)

Also, if one or some segments are selected then that will generate an image with just that size.

I hope this works now.

Perfect Rob. MSG images now showing.  Many thanks for the fix.

One other question if I may. I am now starting to look at other data such as Himawari. Will I have to put a bz2 unzip program into the folder with XRIT2PIC exe or is there some way to tell the program to look elsewhere.

Thanks again,
Douglas.

Good to hear of your results, Quentin.

5. Demodulator Es/N0 11.4 dB

Try for as high a value as possible - that's only about 2 dB link margin for HVS-1 and ideally you want 4 dB to allow for weather and other signal reductions. For BAS alone, you will be OK.

David
