My E1H-TPG-4 folder is filled with unprocessed goes 15 files since 2020 01 01 - 0000 UTC.
So goes 15 service seems continuated as a back-up for Goes 17.

Herman
====================================

Herman,

I sometimes see this - when new data is sent which I don't need or want. I am normally sent everything! I use my free TrimTree program to remove data older than a certain age, for example, create a script (data-trim.cmd) containing:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TrimTree 1 E:\EUMETCast\received *
TrimTree 5m E:\EUMETCast\received\EPS-10 W_XX*METOPA*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

and schedule this script to run every 30 minutes. The first line removes everything more than a day old, and the second removes specified files from a specified directory which is more than 5 minutes old. The first line is more of a catch-all, the second line fort specific unwanted data.

I may be wrong, but I think there was an announcement that the GOES 15
data would be extended to March. I cannot find any information at the
moment but will check it out later when I am less busy.

Ian.

Happy New Year, Ian!

Yes, I searched with Google but didn't find an extension announcement. I was half expecting that because I'd updated the program the service would stop the day afterwards!

Frank,
Please try the current version - 2020.01.02.46 in

The service was never supposed to last past 2019, and the program honoured that statement.  The new version should work until 2099!
Thanks,

Hi friends

i wanna wish you and all your love ones a  very nice new year.

I am using  Eumetcastview as you may know. Its really impressive, but i got some issues, especially with the false colour imaging.

Which channel-combination is the best  to getting blue water and  resonable land colour in your opinon?

Any hints would be very nice.

Regards

Thomas

PS: Relating to my issues with Sentinel3B not showing in Eumetcastview it was an invalid kep file. Thanks for all helpful answers..:-)

Happy New Year, Frank!

I recall this service was due to end in June last year, but was extended until December, although I can't quickly find a reference.

Many thanks David, Ernst and Jan for the link margin values for BS and HVS.
I'm going to check first the dish alignment and then the LNB, cables...

Merry Christmas!

==================================

Laurent,

Given your approximate location and dish size, folks may be able to suggest
what SNR you should be getting.

For dish alignment, as you may already know:

- azimuth

- elevation

- focus (move the LNB towards and away from the dish reflector).

- skew (rotate the LNB very carefully).  Ideally you would use a
cross-polarised signal from the same transponder and tweak that for minimum.

Repeat for best results!

Cheers,
David

I wish I had 13 Db,

The best i am able to get is 12.1 on 11263.500
Might have to invest in a larger dish

Thanks David for the link. Very useful.
But could you remind me how to calculate the link margin?
The Novra Management Console indicates the Carrier to Noise in dB.

Laurent
==============================

Laurent,

For HVS-1 and HVS-2, link margin is SNR - 9.3 dB. I forget the figure for the Basic Service. Perhaps someone else remembers? A link margin of 4 dB is recommended.
