I have METOP-B handling N-19. It is a brilliant test of my geographical knowledge to have lat. and long. only with Quick Look ??? but I really would like to have the base map. Can???t find anything to fix this in Setup, so what am I missing?

Hello David!

In the past I used an Italian software for receiving and decoding MSG and Metop.

Now I use your software.

Bur I have a problem.
If I wanted to view the metop image of Italy, and then save only Sicily, what should I do exactly?

In your site I see this image....

Best regards
Max
==================================

Max,

You can always screen-grab the image you want - if you are viewing at the appropriate time.

Alternatively, you first select the chunks containing the are you want in the browser view, then open the one or more chunks in the HRPT Reader, and select the processing options to produce the processed result you want.

Perhaps someone can give you a more detailed tutorial?

I would save the whole image and then cut out the bit I need in PhotoShop or (free) Paint.net. Sometimes a bit of tweaking (as distinct from faking) can be quite useful too.

That's my problem - there is no world map either in World View or GAC Images/Quick Look. I have it in METOP-A - which is why I thought I might have missed a setting, or something, in METOP-B

Hi

One needs the User Map in each iteration of Metop's folder(s).

Yes, to the HSAF products. You may need to select this in the SAF, Hydrology section in your MSG Data Manager.

Click the displayed Metop image. File|Save to save the image. Please note that this is more of a debugging feature and any existing image will be overwritten.

The intention is that you use the Browser tab to select adjacent chunks for processing in the HRPT Reader.

Minimum strength of HVS-1 transponder signals

fly.fechter@t-online.de

Hello,
I am still interested in receiving GOES data. I understand this is being sent by HVS-1.
What is the minimum signal strength required for this purpose ?
At present - clear sky & heat as in hell - the signal strength indicated by SR1 control is around 11.db, power 40.
My SR1 is set to receive basic service only. What is the best way to extend this to basic service plus HVS-1 ?
Any chance under these circumstances ?
Thanks in advance for your advice to which I look forward.
Regards,
Roland

=================================

Roland,

I suggest 12.0 dB is just adequate, 13.0 dB provides a little margin. As many others have already told you, that should be no problem with the antenna you have specified, providing the azimuth, elevation, LNB skew and focus are all absolutely optimised. Keep repeating each of those adjustments until you can get no more. A motorised dish is unlikely to be accurately aligned.

Please refer to the EUMETSAT guide for configuring different services on the Ayecka SR1. It's on this page:

https://www.eumetsat.int/website/home/Data/DataDelivery/EUMETCast/ReceptionStationSetup/index.html

changes on SR1 to receive HVS1 and BASIC at the same time ... if possible, of course!

iz1kbp <bmario1@...>

Hello everyone.
I need clarification: to enable reception of HVS1 on SR1, at the same time as BASIC SERVICE (
regardless of the antenna), is it sufficient to change the MODCODS and update the firmware to the latest version?
My soft ver is 1.05b250 , firm ver  2.02b922....
I should update to the latest software version...true?
I read the eumetsat tutorials but am I not sure I understood correctly!!
I realized that to receive HVS2, another receiver is needed, but it is not my case.

Sorry for the ignorant question but sometimes the interpretation of some documents in English is not so immediate for me
Thanks to anyone who can give me advice.

Mario

Mario,

I have software: 1.05b264 and FPGA: 2.02b022. EUMETSAT says 1.05b264 is "strongly suggested", so upgrade.

Yes, you are correct - just change the MODCODs. Either use the EUMETSAT configuration tool, or do it by hand:

Re: Minimum strength of HVS-1 transponder signals

geojohnt@...

Roland,

To add to David's comments, your dish at your location, should be giving you at least 14.00 dB SNR on TP-1 with an SR1 receiver.

If your SNR - under clear sky conditions is only 11.00 degrees, that is giving you only 1.7 dB link margin on
HVS-1 (according to my Putty SR1 Telnet readout) which is very low - 'too low.'

This link margin will drop under reduced signal condition (below required levels) with rain, snow, dish off-pointing, etc, which then begins to effect  and corrupt BS data reception - I understand.

So you have to get your dish problems sorted out.
