All,

I've just heard from Ops that Metop-C will be joining the current RDS-EARS service of Metop-B, Metop-A and NOAA-19 on BS.
[Metop-A will remain on this service even though its global coverage is disseminated now on HVS-1.]

Timing is not known yet but could be sometime in August, after mid August.
There will be a notification on UNS.

I've just got in from being out all day and need time to digest your information.

Actually, I defragged my 1.81 TB data hard disk last night - it said it was 75% fragmented.
OK, I have been deleting some GB's of accumulated non wanted 'non imaging' files recently but defragged it a couple of weeks ago.
Anyway, HRPT Reader and GeoSatSignal now work much faster.
And I don't, apparently, get any missing segments/chunks.

So, 'if it ain't broke .......'

I was just surprised that EUMETSAT appeared to be suggesting a RAMDisk as well as temp folders with the 'new' TC.
But I guess if you are taking everything, then two paths (or more) are better than one.

Goodness, an 8 GB RAMDisk?!

Not only that, suggesting(?) the use of SSD's against HDD's, for their
speed.
Pages 34 - 35.

I know that SSD's are not in favour by some(?) but I wonder if anyone has
any comments/experience on 'still' using a RAMDisk and using SSD's in the
data path?

Others have used SSDs successfully, although I haven't here.  You may like
to check the life expectancy given your expected data flow - I recall one
system reported here had three SSDs, one for each service.

My own systems are:

PC Alta: receive and process a selected set of the BAS data.  1000 MB
RAMdisk.  No HVS processing or reception.  240 GB SSD system disk, two HDs.

They "just grew" like this!  There's quite a lot of data I don't use, but I
want to keep receiving all the HVS-1 and HVS-2 data so that I can compare
with Arne.  We both submit automated daily reports to EUMETSAT.  I have
TrimTree jobs doing this, which also remove unneeded processed data (e.g.
much of the sounder data).  It just grew like this.

All of the systems are capable of loss-free reception when conditions are
right.  Instantaneous signal drop-outs are better handled by the TBS
systems, possibly due to a faster AGC response (I've been unable to confirm
this), the system most susceptible to missed data due to disk activity is
Stamsund, without a separate system disk.  All systems running latest
Windows-10 (1903) and latest TelliCast.

Arne's system does what you want (all three services), with an 8 GB RAMdisk,
but he uses a much more complicated script.  My Robocopy/TrimTree method
does the same job, as far as I understand.

Hi Graham.
Im using Version 2.9.8.a. I don't have any problems with it,
you can run the free version. must be 20years I have used it.can be awkward
at first getting all the options to suit myself.I have no5 of the original kit sold by Dartcom.,and the
commercial from Dartcom, the pager filtering is better than the kit, I have the circuits for the kit.
Les Hamiltons article, Ihad up to recently all the RIG (remote imaging group) from issue 1 when
I joined them.

Moderator: the only sandysoft I could find does not supply that software, at least from the front page of their Web site.  It is obsolete software, but still available (without support) from a number of sites acting as archives.

Hi Graham,

I would have replied sooner but my email was not working. I just reverted back to win 7 from win 10 on all three of my pc's, can't be doing with all the latest systems. I might add that the Dartcom system you were  posting is a system 1 recvr and does not receive all the latest sat frequencies. I have a sat II rcvr but just recently upgraded to the APT-06 as I have the same problem with frequencies and my R2FU got damaged in the house move. If You have any questions I would be happy to help.

sorry for troubble but I have not found any usefull help,too many topics with the same title , more or less, but I havent found a solution.
This in my situation :
With old tellicast a eku (TC 2.4.4 and old Eku) I read all my subscribed channel, and , under LICENSE, I read , in 4th position, ****.**** etc string.
Now I' have update the eku and tellicast to last downloaded fron eumetsat ftp site.
Start Uku and basic service, click on TEST.EKU.bat and I read , in 4th postion,host key, of the popout window, the ****.*** string.
Open tellicast shell,in log I read may message ,and afther 5/6 sec , I read  'could not join channel  etc etc...'
Under License , my 4th position is empty.
If run HVs-1 service, under license, my 4th position is regular "***.*** etc"
Is there any one with a solution?
