David, and All,

Sorry this is turning into a bit of a saga.

I hadn't got 'those' boxes ticked in my 'main' MDM.

I did that earlier, closing and then opening the programme again having made the changes.

I'm not sure it has made any differences in the last 4 hours.

All my unprocessed data is effecting only bas.
The two problem folders are:

bas default - 6.44 GB's of unprocessed files.
bas EUMETSAT Data Channel 1 - 6.01 GB's unprocessed files.

Many of my bas channels are directed their own folder.
However bas default accepts channels:

E1B-TPG-1
E1B-TPL-1
EPS-10
EPS-15

Unprocessed files in bas default:

H-000-GOMS2_4 'file'
thin_MOD021KM 'file.

Now, I know MOD is Modis and I don't have my Modis programme running as I don't use the imaging.

Unprocessed files in bas EUMETSAT Data Channel 1:

AVHRR_HRP_00_MO1_ .... BZ2
AVHRR_HRP_00_MO2_ .... BZ2
avhrr_0 ... noaa19.hrp     BZ2
hirs - metop and noaa - iasi, amsua, ath, iras, mhs, DBNet
WXX-EUMETSAT- ...... SING+LEV

It seems I have missed 2 MDM updates in the last couple of weeks?
Mine is V3.1.12.1301 2019-Apr-22.

It seems that Metop NOAA 'sounding' data is being sent in the same stream as VIS/IR.
No problem in that except it sits unprocessed and/or un-deleted in the default folder.

Regards,
John

Hi David,

Yes, really looking forward to grabbing some of the higher def images using AVHRR. I think I've finally worked out my latest mistake and why I can't see any data capture in AVHRR. When I requested the products on the EOPortal I naively selected GDS-Metop-A, GDS-Metop-B, GDS-Metop-C and GDS-NOAA - all AVHRR level 1. I think I probably should have selected RDS-EARS with EARS-AVHRR. Is this correct?

I probably need to optimise the channels I am saving at some point in the ini files along with the correctly requested products on the on EUMETSAT.

I basically just want GEOS16 & 17 and process in goesAbiManager, NOAA19 and Metop A-C using AVHRR and the images in MSG HRIT in MSG Data Manager. My primary focus though is looking at NOAA19.

Andy

David,

Regarding the TC error messages, mmmm.
We had a little rain last night but with my patent plastic lemonade bottle LNB rain shield keeping -1 dB rain drops off the LNB face, my link margin for HVS is always a 'couple of dB's, at least' above threshold.

But yes, just the one SR1 for reception of both streams.
Lets hope we have some heavy rain when I'm at the computer.

Yes, I've learnt the mistake of leaving [channel] name=* in the ini configuration not commented out.

The trouble seems to be that not only the wanted Metop and NOAA 5 channel VIS and IR data are being disseminated via EUMETSAT_Data_Channel_1 but also all the 'unwanted' EARS sounding data which is clogging up the file.

John.

Re: bas'inni configuration.

Well,

Would you believe it?
Past (stored) Imaging is now being processed - catching up.

I was clicking both programmes looking for GAC data - which isn't being processed and Metop images just started coming in in rapid succession.

Both Metop data paths are:

E\|EUMETCast\received\bas\default

My bas ini:
EPS-10 to EUMETCast\receive\bas\default
EPS-15 to EUMETCast\receive\bas\default

Still no GAC data.

Regards,

=================================

John,

Don't forget that the data isn't sent continuously. When it was one satellite, the data was dumped over Svalbard and sent out over roughly half the orbit time. When Metop-B was added there was another data dump over McMurdo (Antarctica), and with Metop-C I'm unsure of the dump schedule. BTW: did Metop-C end up in trident or tristar configuration?

https://www.eumetsat.int/website/home/Data/ServiceStatus/McMurdoOrbitDumps/index.html
https://www.eumetsat.int/website/home/TechnicalBulletins/Metop/index.html

There's a fixed delay of about a minute before the Metop Manager starts processing, and that may have added to the confusion.

David,

Found it.
It's such a long time since I've had to 'configure' Metop Manager - or any of your other programmes, and channel ini, I'd forgotten GAC had a separate setup tab.

DOH!!!

It was still set up for TC V2.4.4a!

All programmes now running under TC V2.14.4.

Whilst fiddling around with 'configurations,' I'd forgotten I'd put some eggs on to boil for supper, over 1/2 an hour later I thought what's that I can smell.
Very hard boiled eggs and a burned out saucepan.

Looks like a storm brewing around Le Havre and heading this way.

Regards,
John.

Hi,

I have been successfully downloading data from GEO16 & 17 using David's GoesAbiManager and have two instances running as he suggested grabbing data from "C:\EUMETCast\received\hvs-1\default". Have also put together some what I think are fantastic animations using GeoSatSignal as well. I have also successfully decoded what I believe is SEVIRI using MSG Data Manager from "C:\EUMETCast\received\bas\default"

EUTMESAT have just enabled NOAA19,METOPA,B &C as Basic Service and I have pointed AVHRR Manager to C:\EUMETCast\received\bas\default" but when I click Start the green gif shows and I just see waiting for segments. I have had this running for about 3 hours but not sure if I am just not waiting long enough? In teh raw folder, I have seen one file type which appears to reference METOPA in C:\EUMETCast\received\bas\default" named "W_XX-EUMETSAT-Darmstadt,SOUNDING+SATELLITE,METOPA+AMSUA_C_EUMC_20190617133423_65691_eps_o_l1.bin"
and another in C:\EUMETCast\received\hvs-1\default which is of the file type "W_XX-EUMETSAT-Darmstadt,SOUNDING+SATELLITE,METOPC+GRAS_C_EUMR_20190617135520_03162_eps_t_l1.bin".

I've got the Kepler data updated in WKTrack (can I use this instead of my Yaesu FT818 instead of WXtoIMG as well?) and the ground station is showing along with the pass view in AVHRR.

I know this is probably a "schoolboy" question but I am struggling to see what I am doing wrong? There is nothing in the AVHRR event log tab.

I've only been doing this for about a month and this a sharp learning curve for me.

Thanks

Andy
===============================

Andy,

I've only just seen this message.

Files like: W_XX-EUMETSAT-Darmstadt,SOUNDING+SATELLITE,METOPA+AMSUA are ones which can be managed with the Metop Manager, continuous world-wide coverage. Those files are "sounding" data, microwave measurements of the atmosphere.

You mention the "AVHRR (Manager) Event Log tab". This program manages the EARS data - near real-time data over an extended Europe area. The EARS data is available for all three Metop satellites, and NOAA-19 too. The files come on Data Channel 1.

Yes, there is a lot of data, and I sometimes find it difficult to remember which data is on which channel! You've found the right place to ask for peer support, though.

Cheers,
David
