Sorry for my poor english.Afther long time I re-switch on my satellite PC and I see a little problem : USB to Serial adapter of ayeka is fault : unknow device...
I've tryed to access via telnet using managment port and sr1 seem to work fine.
In your experience...can I use my receiver without the usb connector? In case of reconfig, is possible reconfig all via telnet or is only via usb/rs232?
Another question : I've got configured managment port as 192.168.10.99 like eumetsat pdf. Can I change it in 192.168.0.99 to connect under my personal lan (switch)?

Your English is much better than my Italian!

You only need the USB connection when you first set up the Ayecka SR1. All other changes can be done over the Management port connection. You might be able to restore the USB by re-installing the driver for the SR1 here:

Yes, I have my Management port set to my "house" LAN (192.168.0.x) so that I can monitor all the status using SNMP to check levels, throughput etc:

Be sure to keep the Traffic port on the 168.192.10.x network though, because the large data flow from the SR1 Traffic port could easily saturate your house LAN (especially any Wi-Fi connections), and you could get data losses as a result.

Ciao David, thank's so much for you words about my "english"  !!!  ;)
Ok for managment port usage: my sr1 is already configured, I must only monitor the status.
However, today, I've found the fault: I've found a broken weld on the usb port on my mainboard:
pulling down cable the signal level was good but pushing up , follow the curve cable, the level signal was down and therefore my PC do not found the usb/serial interface.
Now I re-weld the connector and all works fine!

Oh My Goodness - recovered HDD space!

All,

I was 'looking around' my EUMETCast computer yesterday and found my Data Disk (E:) was rather full.
I had far less free space than - I thought - I had a 'few months ago.'

I had only 413 GB from a 1.81 TB HDD.
It took a little finding as to what was taking up all this space.

It was 65 GB's of BZ2 files from 2017.
12 months worth! of BZ2 files from 2018.
5 months worth of BZ2 files from 2019 (336 GB's) - not yet deleted.

All these files were in E: > MSG > Images > AVHRR (segemnts) > (date)

I now have 1.2 TB's free space from 1.18 TB HDD.

Mmmmmm?

The FY2H data is now coming in along with FY2G.

Data Manager is processing the MET. data from FY2H which is being saved correctly in the CMA folder, but image data is remaining in Data Channel 12 unprocessed.

Hi,

The NASA's Panoply software is capable of displaying FY2H image data in a form of y and x axis but its not possible to include boundary data.

Ian, yes, I can appreciate that, but the good news is that the MSG Data Manager can now handle the FY-2H data!

Three options to prevent this from occurring:

  • Within the AVHRR Manager clear the “Save segment files” box
  • Comment out the AVHRR line from your cast-client-channels_bas.ini file if you don’t use the AVHRR data
  • Use TrimTree to periodically clean out all/particular data older than a certain time.

 

Especially the latter option prevents files your are unaware of to clog up your system.

Good advice, Ferdinand, to which I would add:

- use the "save in compact format" option
- set the "Combined data retention period" to an appropriate value
- ensure that you are using the current version V4.1.2

and if you are using the HRPT Reader "Kepler path" option (e.g. pointing to C:\Tools\SatSignal\HRPTreader\) be sure to use the EUMETSAT Keplers, as those from Space-Track have inconsistent orbit numbers (sometimes going backwards!) resulting in the AVHRR Manager producing larger than normal files output. A sample command script from Thorsten Miglus to use EUMETSAT Kepler data is here:

Regarding your second suggestion - er, believe it or not, I'm I'm still using Tellicast 2.4.4a.
I do however have - have had - TC 2.14.5 loaded on my EUMETCast computer since last November and the short cut icons on my desktop since them.
But 'old habits die hard.'

However, having just updated my MDM to the latest version and seen all the Himawari data thumbnail boxes, it might just get me running the new version😁.

Having just updated all my SatSignal programmes and seeing a Himawari tab on the latest MDM I'm tentatively
experimenting with HVS-1 on Tellicast V2.14.4 running in parallel with TC V2.4.4a - for BS.

Now, my - what was recv.channel.ini - in the old version is 'empty' on the new version::

And, would somebody be kind enough to send me a sample/suggested HVS-1 'rcvd.channels.ini - as was, as a guide.

Right, gosh, several more satellites to 'process.'
I knew of course that GOES had 'moved stream' but, dare I say, wasn't sure 'where.'

So I need to set up my cast-client-channels_hvs-1.ini to send these individual data to specific files and not default as it is at present.

And this will be the case in cast-client-channels_bas.ini, as I'm still using TC V2.4.4a for BS.

Now, I copied a 4th MDM and named it Himawari and directed it to 'default' and it's processing and displaying Himawari data OK.

It seems to me from the above that I'll need a second copy of AVHRR Manager just for Metop C (at the moment)?
GOES 16 and 17 use ABI format (I believe) and I think David has a modified MDM for that.

So that leaves NPP VIIRS.
Er, is there a programme for that?

Yes Hugo's program EUMETCastView does NPP VIIRS and NOAA 20 VIIRS and indeed does all the satellites above in one program if you are interested. It does not do animations though but Hugo has said that he intends to add it to the program sometime.
