Re: HRV north.

John,

From the Weekly Operations Schedule - Week 33:

From 2018-08-17, the Meteosat 0° HRV upper window will
be shifted to the west position at 10:00 UTC every day,
instead of 17:00 UTC as currently implemented. This is
to allow for a better coverage of the Azores. The HRV
window coverage in the East will be maintained via the
Meteosat RSS and IODC HRV windows.

Cheers,
Thorsten

David,

Yes, the duplication factor is 'a/the problem?'

However EUMETCast is the most time effective way of obtaining this data for a reliable quick look - even on an 85 cm dish for the users I detailed.

John.

the Internet via e.g. FTP, as EUMETSAT already supply for their own

Re: False colour LUT for VIS channels

Ernst Lobsiger

Thorsten,

As I said I never used David's software and have no clue.
Appatently you must know what is land and what is sea and
then apply line one or line two of your LUT. This of course
cannot be done by looking at a single VIS channel. As your
image shows nice coastlines as well I suspect there is
something like a bitmap applied which knows what is land
and water. This of course is not how I use a LUT with IM.

What software do you make yout LUT with? I had a closer
look at your *.bmp and AFAIK it has a problem in the 54
byte BMP-header. There is a "uint32_t image_size_bytes"
field in the header that I expect to be 1590-54 = 1536
in the case of your uncompressed two line LUT. But with
my homebrew BMP-reader I get "image_size_bytes = 0" !?

Cheers,
Ernst

Hi David
HVS charts were on the page, but you decided to delete them because I did not receive any data. now I'm receiving data from GORS 16.

Added today, Robert. It seems that the entries were already there, but commented out, so adding involved much less work than I expected! Please check and let me know if any corrections are needed.

They should be there after ~06:35 UTC, not before.

Many thanks for providing the info!

Re: R: [MSG-1] False colour LUT for VIS channels

Hi Stefano,

I made the LUT some years ago with my reception station from the German manufacturer UKW Technik.
Then I adapted it for the use with David's Software.

Ernst,

the upper line is for land and the lower line for sea.

I just noted your LUT has TWO lines. IM treats this in a diagonal way.
Probably not good. Do you combine two channels or do you have
9 bit data? Could you post a typical image using your vis LUT?

Hi Ernst,

Got it! Did not expect to see the LUT that way displayed

Thanks.

Gerard,

The LUT is the fine line at the bottom of Thorsten's post.
It's a one line *.bmp image. Right click and save it to disk.

Hi Thorsten, looking at Ernst's GOMS2 image looks nice and would like to try it but I can't see the LUT you are referring to. Is it in files?

Gerard

Re: False colour LUT for VIS channels

Ernst Lobsiger

Hi Thorsten,

I applied your LUT to a GOMS2 image received under GNU/Linux.
This image was processed using Pytroll (satpy) and IM. *NO* idea
whether this has any similarity with what you get with David's software.

Cheers
Ernst

Hi all,

I like to share the false colour LUT, I made vor VIS channels, especially for MSG HRV.
It brings out land structures and cloud structures as well.
It is for use with David's Software.
If you find it useful you are free to share it with others too.

Perhaps it helps, for use with TelliCast 2.14.4:

Once that's running tell us what's missing, and some more channels can be added!

Thanks thats very helpful.

That's the problem - it didn't transfer across to new PC.
I've got Tellicast working with their default config. I can get MSGDM to
get RSS data.
Does anyone know what's in which folder.
I assume for the master MSGDM I need to direct some channels to the same
folder for MSGDM to pick it up?

Re: Tellicast client

Alan Banks <alanjamesbanks@...>

You should also find the client in one of your download directories - I think it's sent every day.  I'd recommend using 2.14.4 so that you have the latest thinking in both client configuration, and a sample of the available channels in the .INI file.
 ..\received\Info-Channel-1\tellicast-client-pre-release
although mine appears to have but a .BAT file.

David
