Robert,

Himawari files are sent on channel E1B-TPG-1 since August 2016.
IMG_DK01B05_201609271509_010.bz2 is a Himawari file.

Map this channel to the Data Channel 4 folder like this:

[channel]
name=E1B-TPG-1
target_directory=\EUMETCast\received\EUMETSAT_Data_Channel_4

Thorsten

Gentlemen, for those who are interested TBS has now established a supply unit and warehouse in Germany and new Tuners can be ordered by going to : www.tbsiptv.com http://www.tbsiptv.com or buydvd.net http://www.buydvd.net all costs are now in UK Pound Sterling and Euros and Tuners capable of EUMETCast Reception are marked accordingly, prices still well under £400.00. Regards to all, Mike.

Mike,

I just tried the two sites you mentioned, one is for sale, and the TBS site lists prices in US dollars.

Thorsten is of course correct. Sorry for pointing to out-dated information. On the system here I have:

[channel]

Your directories will, of course, be different.

Re: Aluminium versus steel

Ernst Lobsiger

John

Thank you for your suggestions.

I know about the elevation problem of Triax dishes. I have my own fix. It's not perfect but it helps a lot. I could transfer the construction from the TD88 to the TD110 (I also had a TD110 when I worked at my school in Biel).

Weight may be a true concern:

For the TD110 net weight I found two figures 8.9 kg and 11.0 kg.
The Gibertini OP 125 L has net weight 19.8 kg for steel and 15.1 kg for aluminium.
So that is a good point for aluminium ...

Cheers
Ernst

+++++++++++

Hello Ernst,

As we say in English "don't talk to me about" the TD 110.
Total waste of time and money.
It has a non conventional Az/El pole mount which is impossible to align
accurately owing to its poor design.

The Gibertini however has a conventional 'proper' dish/pole mount
mechanism which holds the dish steady whilst one of the adjustments is made, and
again when the other one is made.
This is just not possible with the TD 110 as the dish wobbles around in
its mount.

I'm pretty sure the 'RF performance' is the same for alu and steel.
And, you will certainly appreciate the much lighter weight of the alu dish
if you are installing it on your own!

Best wishes,
John.

Gibertini and its resellers give identical performance figures for alu and

Hi Ernst,

I mounted a Gibertini 125 cm dish in aluminum 6 months ago. The type is OP 125 L.
I am very satisfied with that dish. I did not observe a loss of performance since mounting it.

Ask in 5 years again for corrosion and performance issues. ;-)

Cheers,
Thorsten

did you select day time chunks? For night time chunks visible channels are not available and RGB images can not be shown. Select Terra satellite for day time chunks.

Aluminium versus steel

Ernst Lobsiger

Dear All

I had to take down my Triax TD88 antenna and cut a big nearby tree to get
room for pumping in the concrete for the ground plate of my new garden house.

The easy and rather cheap solution would be to replace the TD88 by a TD110. But
I am also interested in a Gibertini 120cm. This model seems to be available with
dish in aluminium or in steel. From my microwave knowledge I would suggest that
aluminium gives a better reflector (because of higher conductivity) than steel
but the coating may have an effect too. From the point of stability steel seems
to be the preference. I can imagine a strong gust might bend an alu dish in a
way that the original shape is lost while steel would still swing back to normal.
Both dishes have a sort of backbone construction made of steel. Mounting
aluminium onto steel with rivets or screws might be rather prone to corrosion.
Gibertini and its resellers give identical performance figures for alu and steel.

Any pointers to investigations alu versus steel?
Any personal experieces made or suggestions?

Thanks a lot
Ernst

I downloaded new beta geosatsignal but there is not himawari channel 6 in RGB setup,
Could you please add this channel,
Thanks

Roman,

Please try beta 1109 just uploaded:

Note that any RGB channel numbers for RGB jobs will need to be checked and possibly re-entered. Please read the release notes and note that this is a beta version likely with incomplete or erroneous coding!
