.. further, there were two interruptions to TelliCast yesterday at 13:35 and 14:36 for over three minutes each time. One of these events may have been the trigger, although I didn't see anything similar here.

David,
Yes I have checked that.
Could it be that the Ayecka needs up-grading?

John,

I've seen this happen with TelliCast before, and reported it to EUMETSAT. It seems that /some/ will trigger about four hors of messages like the ones you show. I suggest stopping TelliCast, deleting any temporary and .FSY files, and restarting TelliCast. Does the problem then continue?

If it does fix things, were it me I would likely zero out those hours of the MRTG data.

Re: SkyStar 2 eXpress HD

As reported several times the TechniSat Skystar 2 eXpress HD and the SkyStar HD USB DVBS-2 box do work under GNU/Linux for the Basic Service even if they do not know about VCM. It's one single bit that you must set in a demodulator register. The demodulator works then like an Ayecka SR1 in dual mode (where you do not use the second demodulator). The problem of Windows drivers was that they did not know about that while in the Open Source drivers under GNU/Linux (once the problem was understood) this could easily be fixed.

CrazyCat has made a fix for ignorant Windows drivers and so there have now been reports that (at least the PCIe Card) works as well under Windows. These devices have the same demodulator as the 85 Euro TBS-5980 USB box that runs fine as a Basic Service receiver for Arne van Belle with CrazyCat software.

EUMETSAT has tested the SkyStar receivers under GNU/Linux so far and found them to work just fine.

So Ian please try to use the CrazyCat fix that you find on this list and chances are it cures your packet loss as well. I would really like to see a SkyStar 2 USB HD box running as a Basic Service receiver under Windows.

Regards

Ernst

will work under windows. I wonder if anyone has tried either of these

I will almost certainly get one of them in the new year, when the parcel
delivery service is more reliable..!! As my interest (at the moment) is
fully served by the basic service, these cards would seem to be ideal.

the names of the satellite with the ( -** ) is situated to the East

Bonjour francois,

With the drossel-services.de site, you have to enter 10 followed by
return (Enter) to set the satellite correctly for 10 degrees East. If you
enter -10 it will select Eutelsat 1 at 10W. Then just enter your lat and
long and the date you want to do the work, and that's it! Time of sun
transit, elevation and skew all given.

Hi Geoff, please find the text of a former message I shared with Vincenzo.
The sequence of starting telicast is server4pc, then SS2XPFIX.exe, then Telicast.I'm running W7 32bit Home Edition and the receiving of the Basic Service is very stable.
Hope this helps a bitkind regardsKlaus

Hi Vincenzo,

I have tried nearly all products from Technisat. The only card I was able
to
setup for operation was and is the SS2 express HD with the SS2XPFIX.exe
program.
Without the fix, I saw a signal but often switching off and on.
With all other cards I was not able to find a signal at 11263 H 33000 kS/s
on
Eutelsat 10A Of course there are a few TV channels on the satellite but
this
does not help regarding Eumetsat.

The Skystar 2 express HD was an investment of approx.. 44 Euro at Amazon

Hope this helped a little bit

SkyStar 2 eXpress HD

Geoff Morris <satgroups@...>

I see on the Eumetsat Eumetcast migration page, they are including the
SkyStar 2 eXpress HD card, and its USB version in the list of devices
they use. They only give installation info for Linux, but both devices
will work under windows. I wonder if anyone has tried either of these
devices yet..?

I will almost certainly get one of them in the new year, when the parcel
delivery service is more reliable..!! As my interest (at the moment) is
fully served by the basic service, these cards would seem to be ideal.

Cheers..............Geoff

I've just uploaded a new version of the SR1 Controller which includes the ability to resize the display, which may help those of you viewing with a mobile phone or tablet. Thanks to Ayecka for providing this update:

Hi all - bit of guidance needed please.
I asked Space-Band for as copy of the SR1 Control Programme and they have very efficiently sent me a copy. Problem is getting it to open and run.
[]
Also the 'Sr1Control.change2jar' file will not open on my Win 7 Pro operating system. How do I get into it and then what do I do with it? Sorry to be so dumb buy after the simple days of my TechniSat plug-and-play USB receiver this is all a bit of a confusing bore to a simple mind !!

regards - chris

Chris,

Be sure that the latest version of Java (version 8 update 25) is installed on your PC:

More details here:

Re: SR1 Wampserver labour pains

Nigel,

thanks for the immediate reaction. My target is less the ability to upload updates
than means to check reception quality etc. remotely through my LAN. Without
substantial in-depth-knowledge I assumed that that would be facilitated by this
construct.

I'll leave my hands off wampserver immediately! :)

Cheers,
U(lli).
=========================================

Ulrich,

For remote checking there is both a graphical interface:

http://www.satsignal.eu/wxsat/Ayecka/Next-steps.html#SR1controller

and MRTG available:

http://www.satsignal.eu/wxsat/dvb-s2/sr1-mrtg.html

Both work with software version 232 and 250.

I have installed WAMP server here successfully, IIRC, but the update rate isn't as good as the graphical SR1 Controller.

Cheers,
David

Please do not use wampserver.
I will check your sr1 serial number tomorrow and advise how to
proceed. If you sr1 needs an update this can be done using usb cable
and the update files on the geo support page. Please read the support
information on the geo and on David Taylors web site before proceeding
further. Regards Nigel

This moment had to come - I tried to follow the Eumetsat installation
directions step
by step, but sometimes things don't work out as expected.

XP SP3, to start with.
SR1 streams DVB-S (!) data in its out of the GEO-box state.
USB interface successfully installed.
.net framework 3.5 installed.
wampserver(32b) installation is stopped two times with the message that
httpd.exe
is not a valid Windows application. Bummer.
After the (thus interrupted) installation finishes, starting wampserver
leads to the
message that Aestan Tray Menue has found an error and must be stopped.
Report
to Billy G.? Rather not.

Where did I take the wrong way? The data stream from the SR1 has been
running
all the time during these activities.

At one time during the wamp installation I was asked for the browser on my
system.
The installation suggested explorer.exe. On the first attempt, I selected
firefox.exe,
on the second attempt (leading to the same result) I left explorer.exe
there. No
avail.

Any suggestions anyone, or just a pointer where this has been solved or
discussed
before?

Thanks, cheers,

U.
