Re: RSS

I still do not see any improvement in the RSS imagery, so for the time being
I am using Met-9 for all my AVI's

However there are two things to consider. MSG-2 will be taking over the
Rapid Scan Service when MSG-3 becomes operational and that should be fairly
soon. I assume also that the Rapid Scan Service will stop in just over two
weeks for its usual annual monthly outage, although that might be in
question given the pending changes.

Ian.

Yes, I agree with Ian, the RSS service is far from nominal. Apart from the
slight queasy feeling engendered by viewing an animation, there is also the
loss of accuracy in determining cloud boundaries etc. I do hope this is a
problem that can be rectified, although its length to date would seem to
mitigate against this.

Re: Strange Issue with the Eku Key

Enzo,

It is common on Windows machines for the driver only to recognise the USB port active for the device for which it was installed. If you subsequently plug the device into another port, the driver may not see it. When you plug a generic device such as a hard disk into the port, of course it works as it requires no driver.

Best thing is to consistently plug special devices (such as the EKU) always into the same USB port and this should be the one it was plugged into when you installed the driver.

Best wishes - Alan S

Re: Yellow "T"

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 You may need to change your
network configuration. This is well documented by David Taylor and I have
pasted the relative information below.

I recently had to use it when I moved back to Tellicast 2.4.4.a on
Windows 7 64-bit and it is important to reboot after the upgrade.

Hope that is helpful.

Vincenzo, reading your mail I am assuming you are using the Technisat PCI
card. The most likely cause for a yellow "T" is a firewall issue.
Disable the firewall ( Windows or third party ) and see if that resolves the

problem.

If that works remember to enable the firewall again with the appropriate
exception.

Werner this is probably a long shot given what you are seeing, but check in "system configuration / start up" if there is an entry for the PKIMonitor. If there is disable it and you may find this resolves your problem. You will need to reboot after disabling it.

Why eToken?

That annoying significantly, given that this window can be hardly delete and appears again and again new.

I can confirm that the first MSG-3 data has been sent over EUMETCast (manufacturers only so far), and has been processed by the MSG Data Manager set up for "parallel" running. Thermal calibration data for MSG-3 hasn't been added as yet.

Re: No network

Tony EI8JK

Just updating.
Debbie at Eumetsat read about my woes on this forum and realised I was using old software, so she sent me the latest version (without being asked, I was most impressed .. thanks Debbie)
Anyway, the updated software allowed me to get a mediocre intermittent signal from Eurobird 9 and noting that I am right on the edge of the footprint, I bought 110 cm dish to replace my 80 cm
I now have 65% signal and quality and my hard drive is filling up nicely.
As I want to run it over my network, tomorrow's job is to get Tellicast to save all the data in an accessible directory away from c:/program files.

Things have changed a lot since I was last active on Eumetcast hopefully my brain will soon catch up.

Tony, EI8JK

If you can, then I'm probably on Hotbird and need to play with the dish some
more.
If you can't then I can lock the dish and look for the problem indoors.

73, Tony.
=======================================

With an 85 cm dish here in Scotland, and one I suspect isn't 100% correctly
aligned, I get 65% quality and 8.5 dB (varying) SNR. That's on a SkyStar
2.6D card on a Windows XP PC, 4.4.1 drivers. Signal strength graph here:

http://www.satsignal.eu/mrtg/performance_eumetcast-snr.php

You may be nearer the edge of the footprint, and/or have a poorer alignment,
and your figures don't then seem unreasonable. In southern England I would
expect higher. Sometimes the network name does come up blank, so that's no
indication. If you are using a DVB World USB box with 64-bit drivers, there
are other issues which appear to allow video through but not data, hence my
question about which receiver and operating system you have.

Re: New version of BUFRdisplay for NPP data, including Linux

Simon Proud <simon.proud@...>

No worries, happy to help - linux compatibility is a major headache.
Today I tried the windows version (with -l) and it works great! Loads with
no problems and it works with the majority of BUFR files we produce, aside
from the NWC-SAF files that we talked about before.
FYI I list below the NWC-SAF files that work and don't work. Don't think
this is me asking for more stuff (!) but I thought you'd like to know, in
case anyone else asks about them:
AMA T-ridge: Works, displays data nicely.
AMA WV strip: displays message 'not supported BUFR format'
RDT: Program hangs on opening the file.
ASII IRAMV and WVAMV: Both load but simply show a lat/lon grid of points on
map generation. I think this is because it is 'location' data (lots of data
fields, one for each point) but each point is also a vector (with U + V
components). Saving to csv file works perfectly, though.

Thanks again for the work you've put in - we all really appreciate it here
in Copenhagen!
Hope you've enjoyed the weekend,
Simon

Thanks for the feedback, Simon - it's just what I was after, as I was
