Hello Geoffrey

Douglas was correct in getting you to change your first line to [EPS-10] but
your second ( target_directory ) line should requires changing as well.

You have target_directory=C:\received\Data Channel EPS-10. It should be
target_directory=C:\received\EPS-10 for your set-up.

Try that and let me know if it helps.

Regards
Ian.

Many thanks. I have carried out your advice. Regret still no data. I have
probably made some silly mistake as I am not very computer programming
savvy.

Thank you for reply and advice all of which I have actioned. I was already
regisered to receive Metop data but I had not altered my recv-channels.ini.
this I have now done , see copy below. Still no data received.
Regards........Geoffrey

Hello Geoffrey,

The problem is that you have the wrong channel name within the brackets.
You have :-

[EUMETSAT Data Channel EPS-10]

It should only be :-

[EPS-10]

Not every channel starts with EUMETSAT Data Channel.
Best to check here for details :-

http://www.eumetsat.int/Home/Main/DataAccess/EUMETCast/ReceptionStationSet-up/SP_20100623124251305?l=en<

Hope that helps and that it works now.

Best regards
Douglas.

As I have run MsgMgr and GSS and also received the NOAA's for several years
your excellent article in GEO13 has encouraged me to give Metop a trial
before registering.

I have followed your articles instructions exactly but on finishing the Set
Up I have no data coming in. Where have I gone wrong ?

Regards..............Geoffrey

Geoffrey just a quick reply for the moment, but I expect the problem is that
the article was written 4 years ago and the channels and David's program
have changed dramatically.
Perhaps initially it may be best to have a good read of the program at
David's site :-

http://www.satsignal.eu/software/metop_manager.htm

Also remember the global AVHRR data comes in on channel EPS-10. If you
haven't already done so you will need to apply for this data.

Regards
Douglas.

Re: FSD Hourly

Geoffrey

Pleased that you are now getting the hourly data. Keep in mind if you have also corrected Channel 1, you may be getting data coming in on that channel as well which you haven't had before. Channel 1 is EARS data.

I have pasted a URL below which will let you see what is available on the various channels --- a lot of data is now accessible !!

Hi Again James,
Thanks for that reminder, now I recall I did this some years ago when I first used Eumetcast, the thing is, I haven't used it for a while as I'm more into APT and direct reception but yes I do remember doing this before.
Thanks again for the reminder
Rob.

Good news Rob,

If you can find out which way it is slowly drifting - you could insert a

I only use Eumetcast at weekends to save energy (and my electric bill)

"GCP/EB9=XP61" which I googled and found it's temporary free to air
channels. What I don't understand is why it's coming up on the same sat

you know how to stop this happening.
Thanks

Sorry to double post but just to clarify the TRANSPONDER you want is
11977 - the tuner frequency should be 1377 I believe with a symbol rate
of 27500

Hi Rob - looks like your tuner on the sky card has drifted - GCP/EB9=XP61 is marked as transmitting on 11938 whereas the channel you want for MEDIA BROADCAST is 11977

Need to re-tune a little I think,

Cheers
