If you are getting GOES-W, then [EUMETSAT Data Channel 3] is working OK. Be aware that the CLAI data is only sent every three hours (0245, 0545, 0845 etc), but the FIRE (ASCII) data is sent every 15 minutes. The most recent FIRE data I have (at 1649 UTC) is:

200904091630-fir.txt

As we have started the conversation here, I suggest we continue here. Perhaps some other users will be able to help when I am not available.

Annarita,

Did you ask EUMETSAT to continue your MPEF service? Perhaps this notice

Even with just a yellow T-icon, the HTML shell should work.

Hi Arne,

Many thanks for your reply, I did try ipconfig /all, but didn't think to 'ping' the address - I will try when I see my pal on Thursday. I did check that he didn't have any firewalls turned on - and there weren't. this PC isn't used on any other network, so I guess this issafe.

Anyway, thanks for the pointer, I'll See how I go on Thursday.

Hello Steve,

Didi you activate "IP" in the DVB world window ?

It looks like Tellicast is not able to connect to the receiver on 192.168.238. 238.

Run from command prompt: ipconfig /all

and check that the DVBnet interface does have 192.168.238. 238 as IP addres.

Then run from command prompt: ping 192.168.238. 238

If you do not get a reply, there may be a firewall blocking.

Because you also have problems accessing the HTML shell, I think this is the most likely cause.

Check that Windows firewall is disabled and no other firewalls are active on this PC in the beginning. Most firewalls can be configured to let tellicast pass. And most firewalls warn when traffic is blocked. Do not ignore these messages or switch them off.

Good luck

Arne van Belle

DVB World/Telecast setup help please

steeve@talk21.com <steeve@...>

Hi All,

I'm hoping that someone out there might be able to help:

A pal of mine has asked me to help with his weather-sat installation, but I'm rather lost.

He has a DVB World modem and has installed the following:
DVB world software.
Telecast software.
Dongle software.
MSG Data manager.

The Dish is alligned, as I have checked this on an existing installation using the older tv2pc modem and software. (this works just fine.)

The DVB world application has had all of the parameters set manually, and it's status shows as locked, so I don't think there is a problem there. (although this remains to be seen)

The Telecast icon shows as a black 'T' on a yellow background, and if I hover the mouse over it shows tc-recv:connecting

The ini file is as follows:
[recipient]
user_name=<removed>
user_key_crypt=<removed>
[shell]
login=none
port=2517
refresh=3
[locations]
log_file=>>recv.log
[logging]
log_file_size=1000000
log_file_number=30
log_level=normal
[mail]
#mail_server_address=
#sender_address=
#default_feedback_mail_recipient=
#runtime_error_mail_recipient=
[announcement_channel]
address=224.223.222.223:4711
name=TSL Announcement Channel
[parameters]
interface_address=192.168.238.238
#interface_address=224.223.222.223
#file_database_size=62914560

I have checked the log file but can see no obvious errors.

If the html shell is selected by right clicking on the "T" icon, to check the status, all I get is the standard MS "page not found" screen - the address is shown as http://local host:2517

I guess this is a configuration error, as I have already needed to correct the interface address to that matching the IP address of the modem.

I have checked all of the documentation that he has, but can't find anything that describes the setup procedures for this particular combination.

I would be most grateful if anyone could give some pointers.

Regards,

Steve.

Hi,
If you don't like using msconfig, try 'StartUpCPL', which is a free and tiny program available from
http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml, which allows you to simply turn on or off programs that run at start up time.

Best regards - Alan

Have you checked after following Eumetsat's instructions that the entry in
startup is not " ticked " and that the date disabled is clearly shown
against the entry. You should also check that there is not more than one
entry in startup. If you have loaded the software more than once you might
have multiple entries all of which need to be disabled.

If the entry or entries are disabled you will NOT get the password request.

Hope that helps.

(Eumetsat solution)
eToken PKIMonitor frequently asking for password

SYMPTOMS:
- after installation of EKU software (PKIClient) version 4.5 or later
from time to time Etoken pops up a window requiring the password

PROBLEM:
- the PKIMonitor is running, however this feature is not used by the
EUMETCast software

SOLUTION:

disable the PKIMonitor with msconfig
- start - run, enter "msconfig", ok
- select the Startup tab
- disable "PKIMonitor", ok
- reboot the station
- after reboot a window will come up showing that something was changed,
check "Don't show..." and accept, close the open window and reboot
again

Re: Tellicast Connecting and Disconnecting

a_van_belle

Hello Enzo,

If you do not miss segments then there is no big issue.

My guess is that you do not have all PIDs activated in the Skystar Data services window. Tellicast log window will tell you more.

If (for example) you don't have PID 510 enabled but do have EPS-10 in your recv-channels.ini then Tellicast will flash the icon Red when a EPS-10 file is send. This is Tellicast's way to warn you it is trying to receive EPS-10 but fails because PID 510 is not enabled.

Nowadays it is best practice to enable all Eumetsat PID's
<http://www.eumetsat.int/Home/Main/What_We_Do/EUMETCast/Reception_Station_Set-up/index.htm?l=en>
and use recv-channels.ini to cautiously select what data channels to receive.

Greetings,
Arne van Belle
