Failure to delete source files in C:\Tellique\received\

Folks, I have received a couple of reports that the files in the
Tellique directory aren't being deleted, although it seems to be OK
for most people.

If you are getting this fault, could you please:

- ensure that you have the "Delete files from RX box" checked

- check that the program has delete access to the folder

- tell me if the deleting used to work OK, and when it stopped
working

- list the file names of a few of the files that are not being
deleted. I want to know if these are normal segment files, MPEF
data, or ATVOS data.

Thanks,
David

No same here David
John
Thanks, John. It's the same on both my PCs (common antenna), and the
Tellique HTML shell still shows throughput on the announcement channel, so
I guess it must be the path from Eumetsat to the HotBird6 uplink, or
something at the Eumetsat end that is the problem.

Hope they get the night-shift to reboot whatever!

Cheers,
David

Re: First segments of Meteosat 5 appearing here

David J Taylor GM8ARV 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🇪🇺

Thanks for that. Met-5 visible segment order is still very
erractic. Very often segments appear to be missing and 90 minutes
later when all other FSD images are in, the missing segments are
then sent, very often involving a "manual" save. Having said that
since Met-5 started I have not been aware of any segment loss on FSD
in the 14 hours or so I take data.

Ian, I've reported this problem to Eumetsat, and they are doing
something about it.

In a way, I was slightly surprised as we'd been through the same
problem so many times before, but it's obviously a matter of fine
tuning the system. The LRIT channel is (I think) very full now,
with the derived semi-real-time products vying with the real-time
image data. I wonder what priority people would put on FSD vs. IODC
vs. Met products vs. relayed data!

I was also surprised not to see any data for the 0000 slot.

Still nothing heard about Internet access tests - I know that there
are people without DVB kit who would love to have the LRIT data....

Cheers,
David

I agree -- again David has us up and running with something new on
day 1. One strange thing I have noticed about Met 5 however is that
although I save all my images as png, Met 5 is saving as jpg.

Ian, that problem will be fixed in the next beta release.

Re: Animator problem

Roger Mawhinney <roger@...>

Alan,
I've seen similar to this many times. For example, my ADSL router has a
DHCP server function which will give out IP addresses if I let it. These can
conflict with static addresses on the PCs. Make sure that you have disabled
all DHCP servers (routers, PCs and servers) and that all PCs have their own
IP addresses on the same subnet
OR
set all PCs to obtain IP addresses via DHCP and let the DHCP server dish out
the IP addresses.

Personally, on a small network, I prefer static IP addresses. DHCP uses
timed leases and the new IP address issued to a PC (especially if it has not
been logged on for a while) can be different to that previous. Mixed DHCP
and Static IP addresses can be a nightmare if not properly controlled.

Also, make sure that NETBEUI and IPX/SPX protocols are removed from all PCs
and that the TCP/IP subnet masks match on all PCs.

Contact me off list if you need more advice.
Roger

yes Alan, I know what you mean !

I've upgraded several machine from Win XP to Win 2k to get stability

XP appears, at times, to be "too" intelligent and/or goes for a walk by itself in the woods to pick bluebells ........

/nostalgia:on
and nothing comes close to "proper" dedicated servers - at work I had a Novell SFT-III server - ran for almost three years without a reboot (1022 days in fact) - and it would have kept on longer only we had to stop it as due to a prolonged power outage UPS was running out
/nostaliga:off

....... I have had endless trouble with this particular
machine running XP Home in respect of networking, in fact I have never
....

|Yesterday on boot up my main XP computer had lost the network
