Re: Old and new Tellicast Client

Ernst,

you are right. I looked into your xrit2pic.ini file. There is really an
enc-speed and I took it over into my .ini.
So most things are already working...maybe a time frame/range could be
added...?

Christian

Rob can probably not pack everything on the command line. So for some
user preferencies like image size, frame rate, area definition by name
etc., you still need the xrit2pic.ini. Look into the xrit2pic.ini I
use: There is e.g. a frame rate parameter "movie_encspeed=8 " and a
"film_size=2048". There still is a area definition "Volcano" from the
big Eruption in Iceland years ago. Some features like fixed film
length are only possible if you let xrit2pic manage your files (what I
do not see my del_*= parameters and archive /dev/null) as Rob
explained some posts back. So you better experiment with my
xrit2pic.ini first. Maybe the -time command line parameter takes a
range or could be adapted to take a range (I have never used or tried
that up to now).

Cheers,
Ernst

Rob,

that sounds good. But I would ask for a little bit improvement of the
commandline.
If I run a script at the end of the day and would like a color movie on
daylight, it would be great to have a commandline option for start and
end time or start/end time and number of frames to skip the black
pictures at night!? A speed parpameter switch (number of frames per
seconds) would even very welcome!
If it would be possible to have the new gui 'fixed lenght' option
available in the commandline too it would be great.
But I will have a look on the gui if it's only possible there.

Christian

For your info: I have just uploaded a new version of xrit2pic.
This can generate movies in a continuous way, with limited length, if
desired. After the max. length is reached adding a new frame at the end
will result in removing one at the beginning, keeping the length fixed.
It is also possible to control mplayer, so it will restart after the
movie is updated.
This runs now here for several days, showing me an RSS movie of the last
24 hours, at any time.
Updating an existing avi file the same way using non-gui is not possible
yet, but I can add that.

Rob.

In my script I use -ol coa (Overlay Coastline) and have the
Coastline file in the same directory as xrit2pic_cmd.
This does eventually also ask for overlay_type=V (Vector and not
Bitmap) as set in my version of xrit2pic.ini..
And my script runs as root. If not you must of course have write
permission for your destination directories ...

Cheers,
Ernst

If you use your xrit2pic (not xrit2pic_cmd) you have to add at least
the -nogui switch in my scripts. Maybe it still locks for graphic
libraries? What does xrit2pic say before you get your segfault? If
you
cannot get it going try " xrir2pic_cmd" from Robs page. It is
somewhat
dated but that's what I use ...

Good luck
Ernst

Ernst,

again...thank you very much. I set up my 3 hour pics by
commandline and
a cron job for every picture ( ...a really long xrit2pic

Your scripts are much more smooth.

I use the latest xrit2pic version. Maybe something changed. A
short test
of the makemovie gives me a segmentation fault...so have to dive
into
and will enable step by step one option after the next one...! ;-)

Christian
