Looking for an elmer involved w/ ARES for a school project!
Hello Simplextons!
I'm a senior in high school and a part of my graduation requirements is a Capstone Project in a field of my choice. With my new interest in DCARES I decided it would be a good idea to do my project on Emergency Communications in Amateur Radio - covering topics like basic procedures, when amateur radio has been used in emergency situations, and methods of communication such as Winlink and Traffic Handling. A major part of the project is a mentor - an expert in the topic who helps the student throughout the project through helping in the planning and development of the project. If there is anyone out there who is a member of their ARES group and would like to help me on this journey please feel free to reach out! Only obligations is an hour or two of your time per week (in-person or over the phone, depending on what works best!) towards helping to further this project and answer questions. Thanks so much in advance for any replies and for reading this! If you'd like to contact me individually outside of groups.io, you can email me at colin (at) ko4jzt (dot) tech or my phone number is 61 five 9 four 3 ten 5 seven (trying to keep spammers out!)

Re: Complete HF Tower for sale - Taking Offers (info in pdf)
3 10' tower sections plus the mast. You would need to rent a bucket truck and a cherry picker to get it down. Then you could excavate the bottom section with a mini-ex to remove the concrete base and chip the concrete from the tower section to be re-poured after installation at your place. Complete HF Tower for sale - Taking Offers (info in pdf)
KN4VKX Andrew
Please note, the prices listed in the PDF are retail prices for reference only. Seeking offers for the tower and removal along with a timeframe to remove.
I have become friends with a ham that is unfortunately selling his property and moving out of state due to family health issues.
I will be relaying offers and timelines to him as he's the primary caretaker and doesn't want to use his time away from caring for his wife to manage this.
Please review the attachment and share with anyone you believe would be interested in this opportunity.

Saturday Night Net Results
#simplex-results
K4PEW Paul Wieloszynski <k4pew@...>
Yeah, I forgot to send these results out over the weekend. Sorry.
Big news was my mini-catastrophe with a parakeet loose (have six of them) and a dog who wanted to play with the bird. The bird lost tail feathers in the incident and was in shock, unable to fly. I managed to keep the dog away from the injured bird and got hold of it and put her back in her cage. Michael KM4YRF jumped in to finish the 70 cm and 6 m nets. Incident happened here on the video. My XYL, June had gone out to the garage to spend time on an elliptical machine, wears headphones and couldn't hear me screaming for her. My yelling didn't go out over the air, but it is really obvious on the YouTube feed. Michael KM4YRF managed the two nets, without incident, very nicely. Results:2 M FM: 39 check-ins70 CM FM: 13 check-ins6 M USB: 11 check-insThe "bird" incident" brings to mind a silly song from my teen years which can be found here. You can skip to my favorite part here. Don't judge me, I know it's a stupid song.-- Hope to hear you on the air!! Paul K4PEW Mt. Juliet

The only thing that comes to mind are Isotron antennas that will fit in a lot of attics. Some people like them others not so much.

Just recently purchased an Icom IC-737 from WN4O and was hoping to do some receiving while I'm studying for my general class license. Looking for an antenna that will work well in a small attic (space to "zig-zag" which will most definitely
be needed) as well as on a fairly small budget. No specific dollar amount at the moment however.
