Yeah, I forgot to send these results out over the weekend.  Sorry.

Big news was my mini-catastrophe with a parakeet loose (have six of them) and a dog who wanted to play with the bird.  The bird lost tail feathers in the incident and was in shock, unable to fly.  I managed to keep the dog away from the injured bird and got hold of it and put her back in her cage. Michael KM4YRF jumped in to finish the 70 cm and 6 m nets.

Incident happened here on the video. My XYL, June had gone out to the garage to spend time on an elliptical machine, wears headphones and couldn't hear me screaming for her. My yelling didn't go out over the air, but it is really obvious on the YouTube feed.

Michael KM4YRF managed the two nets, without incident, very nicely.

Results:

2 M FM: 39 check-ins

70 CM FM: 13 check-ins

6 M USB: 11 check-ins

The "bird" incident" brings to mind a silly song from my teen years which can be found here. You can skip to my favorite part here. Don't judge me, I know it's a stupid song.

If your are just going to receive.. simply stick a random length of wire into the center pin of the antenna connector lol I'm serious...longer is better.
for transmitting you need a "real" antenna.
An end fed 1/2 wave maybe what you need. 40 meter version is about 63 feet long. get you 40 to 10 meters.
There are numerous folks sell these or you can make one yourself. a quick internet search will spit out numerous plans and instructions.

good luck.

The only thing that comes to mind are Isotron antennas that will fit in a lot of attics.  Some people like them others not so much.

Subject: [MJSS] ISO Budget HF Antenna Solution #antennas

Just recently purchased an Icom IC-737 from WN4O and was hoping to do some receiving while I'm studying for my general class license. Looking for an antenna that will work well in a small attic (space to "zig-zag" which will most definitely be needed) as well as on a fairly small budget. No specific dollar amount at the moment however.

Open to any suggestions on new purchases or used equipment - thanks in advance!

Live long and propser,
Colin KO4JZT

Dad may have done that too. He was a auto mechanic for 50 years or more.
That's something I probably should have done but I hate getting all
greasy and dirty. He also worked at an auto parts place.  Usually it was
just dad and I that played far away.

LOL!  I don't recall gambling on the color of what you would get out of
the gumball machine.

Stan, I guess I was in the wrong crowd. It was $1.00 a bottle at the

the Hawaii bottle and keep quiet and wait to be last to reveal your
bottle location, then watch the guys face fall who had pulled Alaska......

I too fall into the getting older camp. I remember almost all of the pictured items. I also played far away with coke bottles.

Remember almost all of that stuff. I'm getting old too... The bottles that had deposits reminded me of a game my dad and I used to play. The game was called "Far Away"  In case you don't know what that is; the smaller Coca-Cola bottles had the name of a city on the bottom of the bottle. Whoever had the bottle with the city that was the farthest away won the game. The other person had to buy the next cokes as we called them.
