Re: Spider Pro Install
Clifton Davis
Thank you to Sergio and Graham. I will try the portable version. In the meantime, I tried out LLMS downloaded from https://lmms.io/download#windows with a manual at https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Manual . It seems to be a free low level DAW but it is dead easy to set up to play midi with the Timbres of Heaven soundfont by once setting it up once with Edit/Settings/Paths (Folder Icon)/Default Soundfont File. After that it's just a matter of pulling the midi in with File/Import and playing it. To my ear it doesn't produce quite the same sound as Spider Player, but close enough for now. I'm keeping LLMS in mind as an option if I want to teach someone to start to write music. Before loading up my usual DAW, on the laptop, I want to get CoolSoft working. Unfortunately, Norton and Microsoft have decided they don't trust the dll that the latest version tries to install and dump it. I was able to get Norton to exclude Coolsoft, but Micro$#!+ security software is deleting the dll as fast as the install program sticks it out there. On my desktop computer, which is also Windows 10 and running the same Norton security, Coolsoft gets disabled every time I reboot, but I reinstall it and I'm good to go. I just keep the install file on the desktop. But that's an older version of Coolsoft. I may try to copy the install of the older version over to the laptop and see how that works. Nothing can be easy.

New update on Robert Silvestri's health situation
Robert is doing great! He has quite a ways to go to get through all of this, but
he's been staying on top! And getting better day by day. Robert has been in the hospital since early December. This just in from Robert . . . Robert, my friend, our prayers continue! From Robert, earlier today . . . "Finishing second round of chemo. May be home by Monday or Tuesday until time for
round 3. Will be 6-8 rounds altogether. I feel great and appetite still strong. Hanging in there. Say hi to all for me. Bob"

Re: Spider Pro Install
Sergio Ferreira
Hi, Clifton. Sorry, my mistake. I answered without a test. Better use the portable version as GrahamT said. I tried to use Majorgeeks's software with the same problem. If you ckeck any of the 3 options AAC plugin, Ac3 plugin and Simple Midi font, the software try to download from the inexistent site. What i did here. I extracted the portable version as indicated by
GrahamT in a folder. At first, the program was not recognizing my
output sound hardware. I choosed it from the list in "Sound"
Option. To play mid and kar I used a .sf2 soundfont file, putting
it in the plugin directory and choose this soundfont file in the
the same "Sound" Option. Now everything it's ok. Sergio Em 23/01/2021 18:00, Clifton Davis

(2 song links in this email) (1/24/2020) Can You Guess This Song And Artist(s)
Gary Rogers

Can You Guess This Song And Artist(s)? I think most of us have heard a song on the radio that we know, but can't remember the title or artist who recorded it. These songs usually drive me crazy until I remember what it is and who recorded it. I'm not trying to drive you crazy with this posting. I'm just trying to let everyone have a little fun with it. I can't offer any prizes for properly guessing it, but you can have the distinction of being the first one to guess it correctly. I am looking for the title of the song and who originally recorded it. The song won't sound exactly like it was recorded, but hopefully it is close enough to be recognized.
There are 2 “Guess This Song” links in this email. I am combining both weekly games into one email post per a suggestion by one of our players.
You may not need any hints today but here is one. This week’s hint is: Last week’s game was harder for a few of our players so this week will be much easier. Both songs are by the same artist commonly referred to as “The King”. If you need a hint, ask for one and I’ll send it to you.
!!!Please do not reply to this email. Submit your answer to the my email address garyrog1946@... !!!
There will be 2 songs in this game today. Feel free to play both of them, if you want.
Below are the links to “Guess This Song”. !!!Please do not reply to this email. Submit your answer to the my email address at the website!!!
I will keep this open until Wednesday morning, 08:00 AM US Central Time, so everyone who wants to respond will have the opportunity to respond. I will post the results later Friday morning.
Please click the link below to hear this week’s songs and submit your response at the website: Song #1: http://www.garyrog.50megs.com/guess_this_song.html
Song #2: http://www.garyrog.50megs.com/guess_this_song2.html
I will post all correct answers in the order I receive them according to their timestamp.
Good luck and have fun!!!!

Re: Spider Pro Install
You might find that the old program is "phoning home" to download a file but the domain has long been released and now someone else has taken it rather than the original developer.
I found a portable version of the download (which should come with all the neccessary files built in) here: Spider Player Pro - The Portable Freeware Collection All the best Graham

Re: Spider Pro Install
Hi Clif Spider Player is no longer being developed. You can still download and use it, though. Please use the following license key to unlock all the PRO features: 27U3Z909I95-KK147A893S4K6Y1M0F-780363812. Spider Player PRO is completely free now, never mind the EULA. http://web.archive.org/web/20130102173113/http://spider-player.com/wiki/options:pro

Spider Pro Install
Clifton Davis
My old laptop died and while my data was backed up; not so with the software. Attempting to Install Spider Pro on my new laptop, I have downloaded the installation file Spider_Player_2.5.3_Setup from https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/spider_player_pro.html but when I run it, it does the preliminary dialogue and then starts installing, but almost immediately returns Error Opening The Server returned status code 403. When I try to access http://spider-player.com in my browser, I get what appears to be an Indonesian site. The files are all on my desktop including, I am sure, bass_acc.dll but I have no idea how to install stuff by hand. Is this a known problem with a solution? Failing that, are there recommended alternatives to Spider Pro? Thanks in advance for any advice. Clif
