Re: Stewart Island NZ

Note: Despite the description in the article, Port Craig is NOT located on Stewart Island, but is actually on the Mainland (Sth Isl), about 60Km west of Invercargill and is accessed by car and and hiking track; no kayak required!

The area is currently a conservation hiking track that follows the tramline formation, including crossing many of the substantial timber trestle viaducts. (http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/fiordland/places/fiordland-national-park/things-to-do/tracks/south-coast-track/). The most impressive is the Percy Burn Viaduct.

Get your boots, and bring the leech repellant!
