Pleasure Island amusement park

Petan

Some recall my short article on Pleasure Island amusement park in Light Railways 234 December 2013. This was a small scale version of Disneyland, operated at Carrara on Queensland’s Gold Coast from 1959 till closure in 1962.  It included an 80 passenger capacity tram on a half mile long 2ft (610mm) gauge tramway on tracks purchased from Queensland Railways [QR].

Its founder, Alex McRobbie, passed away on Saturday at the age of 89 http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/tributes-flood-in-for-late-gold-coast-writer-journalist-and-historian-alexander-mcrobbie/story-fnj94j0t-1227573558336

Alan Jones has a Youtube on the park https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DSmPTZyF1E&feature=c4-overview&list=UUGDo7vjCgs4Afc2_7LXbyvg

 Cheers
