Lon was elected president of the PBPS in July 1961 replacing H.L.Hewett. At that time the VR was strongly considering abandoning the rebuilding of the line beyong Belgrave due to Hewett's inability to negotiate with the VR or the membership of the PBPS.
Lon was asked to stand as President, He did and won. As a result negotiations with the VR and work on rebuilding continued.
Due to Lon's efforts we have Puffing Billy. Thanks Lon.
For those who don't know Puffuing Billy was the first Preserved line opened in Australia.
