This is the official online group of the Long Island Mobile Amateur Radio Club, Inc. This Groups.io Group, known as the "LIMARC Reflector" is open to LIMARC members in good standing. The LIMARC Reflector is used to post club notices, activities, and allow LIMARC members to share articles or postings, and their ideas about amateur radio and club-related materials amongst each other.
LIMARC (the Long Island Mobile Amateur Radio Club, Inc.) was formed to encourage and foster mutual interest in Amateur Radio Communications. The club's goal is that in cooperation with other organizations and agencies, they will promote the advancement of public service and safety through amateur radio communications. LIMARC actively encourages participation of its members in emergency communications, so that the safety of the public may be better served.
LIMARC was formed in 1965 when a small group of hams decided to get together at a diner in Nassau County, NY. They shared an interest in mobile HF operating. From there, the club has grown to over 300 members with interests as varied as QRP (low power) operation, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technologies such as EchoLink and IRLP, contests, packet, RTTY, emergency communications, satellite operation, and more.
Please read the LIMARC Reflector Rules. You can find a copy in the "Files" section on this site; you can click on the "LIMARC Reflector Rules" link in this paragraph, or read the Reflector Rules on LIMARC's website http://www.limarc.org
