IP and Canon EOS R

Which is why I no longer use images plus. I use DSS and PixInsight.

Rick,

Please check the IPCC list, http://www.mlunsold.com/ILCameraControl.html  I don't see the EOS-Ra in the list.
ImagesPlus is no longer supported by the developer. The camera control portion won't work with the newer cameras.
The calibration and processing functions still work, but the new camera file formats will likely need to be converted to
file formats that ImagesPlus can read such as TIFF or FITS.

Two of the current popular camera control choices are:
Astrophotgraphy Tool (APT) https://www.astrophotography.app/
BackyardEOS (BYE) https://www.otelescope.com/store/category/2-backyardeos/

Hi Rick,
Mike Unsold stopped developing Images Plus Camera Control (IPCC) some years prior to the release of the EOS Ra camera in 2019. That camera requires an SDK that didn't exist when Mike stopped development, so as I understand it the Ra is never going to work with IPCC, indeed, I suspect nor will any of the more recently released Canon DSLR cameras.
Regards,

Geof

I purchased an EOS Ra, and I have Images plus camera control. IT WON’T CONNECT. I’ve emailed the company about it and no response.

Use Canon's Digital Photo Professional that comes with your new camera to convert the Canon raw files to 16-bit TIFF, which ImagesPlus can read.

Hi folks,

I just purchased a Canon EOS R camera and was wondering if IP is compatible with that camera.  I'd appreciate hearing of anyone's experience with IP and the EOS R.

Thank you and Happy New Year!

There's also N.I.N.A for camera control on DSLRs .. it's a great program!

Happy New Year to everyone in the group.

It can be interesting to take a look at APT APT - Astro Photography Tool

In the Canon Matrix you can see the Canon EOS R is supported

I do not have a EOS R. But I control my EOS 40D and EOS 7D with APT. A lot of usefull tools in APT. Most of them are free.

Two other options for controlling your camera are Backyard EOS (BYE) and Astrophotography Tool (APT).
https://www.otelescope.com/store/category/2-backyardeos/
https://www.astrophotography.app/

Both of these support the EOS-R and as such, output files that IP can use.

Camera Control in ImagesPlus only supports old cameras. A slick, albeit rather expensive option to control your camera and do essentially all your astrophotography tasks using your smartphone with the ZWO ASI Air (Pro or standard models). For simple camera control to take a series of long exposure photos, buy a compatible intervalometer on Amazon. Of course, there are several mission planning apps out there that will run on a computer, and control your mount, camera, and do other tasks too.

Thank you Joe.  Most helpful.

Do you happen to know if the EOS R can be controlled by IP Camera Control?

Thank you.

Clear skies,
Kevin
