Today was the Boise Christmas Bird Count, we recorded 97 species (pending anything unusual in data I don't have yet) including count firsts Broad-winged Hawk and Gray Catbird. CBC count week goes through the 29th, anything we get during count week but not today contributes to our species total. If anyone wants to go looking for count week species, here's some birds we missed today you could focus your energy on: Cackling Goose, Northern Pintail, Redhead, Canvasback, Rough-legged Hawk, Northern Saw-whet Owl, Hairy Woodpecker, Prairie Falcon, Marsh Wren, Varied Thrush, Red Crossbill, White-throated Sparrow, and Orange-crowned Warbler.
