back on line
R L ROWLAND RONALD ROWLAND
Hey all in "ible-land" RL here.
I am now back on-line after stupidly tripping into being "Trojaned", a.k.a. Ransomware. I've gotten a newer, faster computer, with updated Windows and better security, a whole new operating system to get used to. Argh!!!
Fortunately, all passwords I use are entered manually each use so those people were not able to access anything pass my basic ISP screen. However, they did lock and encrypt my entire Desktop, very little was salvageable due to the encryption. Means I have to start all over from scratch. SIGH! If anyone here in Boise area knows of a good computer whiz I could hire...? This new 10 system is much more intricate and trickier than my old 7 system.
No virus was found by the folks who checked out my old computer and from whom I acquired this new one.
I want to especially thank Denise Hughes for passing on my message about my malware problem to all of you in "ible-land" in case I was infected. I did not want to pass anything nasty forward.
But, all is good now and I have a month's worth, each, of emails to deal with and back checklists to enter in ebird.
Be careful out there and... Continued Good Birding. RL

This is Kerry, one of the new Wednesday morning birders. I DO have a great tech guy. He works for Riverstone International School but also does work outside the school. His email is: jbell@... He’s very knowledgeable. He also has a ‘home visit” guy who could come to your house if that would work.
Glad you’re back in business.
Hope this msg. doesn’t go to your spam folder!
Best,
Kerry

Glad you're back online. Hate it that spammers and ransomware criminals are so widespread and seemingly operating with impunity. The ransomware f***ers are mostly operating from other countries so not much US law enforcement can do about that.

Hey, RL, Good news!
I'm glad you're back in business with a computer. They can be so very useful when they work properly, and so very frustrating when they don't.
