Wood peckers
Jim Lyons
One of my birding career highlights came when, with Scott Tuthill's help, we found a tree full of them at Discovery Park (below Lucky Peak dam) to show my future in-laws, birders from the East, who were duly impressed!!! It has been great to see the increasing range of Lewis’s in Idaho. My go to location still continues to be the South Fork of the Boise River but I have seen and photographed them in many more places now.

Fun fact: the Lewis's Woodpecker footage is from Idaho! I connected with the filmmaker (Ann Prum) and she ended up getting tips on filming locations from Jeff Thompson, a birder in Salmon! Heidi On Sun, Nov 6, 2022 at 4:33 PM Elizabeth Medes <liz.medes@...> wrote:

Very similar moves! The show is definitely a love letter to Woodpeckers and is doing wonders for woodpecker awareness, based on the numerous viewing recommendations floating around :) -- Jim Lyons Boise On Sun, Nov 6, 2022 at 8:36 AM Bob & Elinor Chehey <cheheyr@...> wrote:

I was especially intrigued by the mention of cooperative behavior in the Patagonian Flickers. I believe I have observed this with the Northern Flicker, as well. On Sun, Nov 6, 2022 at 8:27 AM Kevin Merrell <historysaver@...> wrote:
