Wood peckers

One of my birding career highlights came when, with Scott Tuthill's help, we found a tree full of them at Discovery Park (below Lucky Peak dam) to show my future in-laws, birders from the East, who were duly impressed!!! Spring migration.

It has been great to see the increasing range of Lewis’s in Idaho. My go to location still continues to be the South Fork of the Boise River but I have seen and photographed them in many more places now.

Agree on comparison to Northern Flicker - feeding on the ground in loose groups (winter only here, as I've observed), and courtship/territorial behavior. Very similar moves!

The show is definitely a love letter to Woodpeckers and is doing wonders for woodpecker awareness, based on the numerous viewing recommendations floating around :)
