Dear Crane Supporters,
Colorado Crane Conservation Coalition (CCCC) hopes that you and your family are staying healthy and safe as we adjust to life during this time of COVID-19.  While the human situation seems to change daily, we take comfort in knowing our Greater Sandhill Cranes remain steadfast in their yearly routine of nesting and raising their young here in the Yampa Valley.

As communities begin to re-open, we have been pondering what to do about the 2020 Yampa Valley Crane Festival. The health and safety of our community and all those who take part in our festival are our top priority. After much discussion we have reluctantly decided it is not prudent to go forward with this year’s festival as originally planned. Instead, we will take our festival –or at least parts of it – and go virtual.
We plan to produce a series of educational videos about our Greater Sandhill Cranes that will be made available for free through our website. The first of these videos, intended for elementary school children and their families, has already been completed. It can be accessed via this link:
We also plan to take some of your favorite crane festival events and present them in an online platform during the 2020 Yampa Valley Crane Festival dates- September 3-6.  We will be sending you the relevant information for accessing these videos and virtual events as the time grows closer.
All of the speakers who were scheduled to talk at the 2020 festival will instead be presenting at next year’s Yampa Valley Crane Festival, scheduled for September 2-5, 2021.
Our conservation work on behalf of the cranes continues despite COVID-19. While we realize that human needs must take priority at this time, we hope you will continue to support our organization and our cranes during this challenging period. If you are able, please consider a donation to CCCC. The recently enacted CARES bill includes Charitable Giving Incentives to encourage and support taxpayers to give to non-profits. This federal bill allows up to $300 per taxpayer ($600 for a married couple) in annual charitable contributions available to people who take the IRS standard deduction. Thank you for caring about our Greater Sandhill Cranes.  Let’s stay connected as we move forward through the summer. For the latest information, check back often to our website www.coloradocranes.org. We wish you all the best in health, safety and wellness.
